Xbox hdd question. (transferring stuff)

I have a 20 gig hdd, I'm taking my cousins 60 gig hdd since all he does is use it for game saves. I remember something recently about using usb sticks to save shit as well.
My 20 is almost full can I transfer all of our Shit to my pc first, format the hdds, then move everything to where its suppose to go? Should I even bother formatting?

Can just use a USB stick if you have a 16GB one, or break it into smaller chunks I guess if you only have a 4/8. 16GB is the max you can transfer via USB in one chunk, but I'm pretty sure the actual system files take up more than 4GB so if you're moving from a 20 it should be fine. You only need to format his HDD if you want to get rid of his crap, there's a utility for it in the dashboard menu.

Also if you actually installed games so that the discs don't spin, I don't think those transfer, you'll have to reinstall them on the new HDD.

I only had one game installed on mine and that was Modern Warfare 2 because the dis was scratched and wouldn't load multiplayer, but i don't even play that anymore.
