Sleek Wireless Headphones by 50 Cent OR What Not To Buy General

    UPDATE 12/9

    UPDATE 10/3

    SYNC by 50
    Professionally tuned wireless headphones

    Features
    - Professionally tuned Digital EQ
    - 16-bit lossless digital sound - Full on-board controls with bass boost, volume control & mute
    - 50' wireless range
    - Custom 40mm driver
    - Soft memory foam cushions
    - Passive noise cancellation
    - Sync up to 4 users from one source

    * Available in Black and in White

    Includes
    - Wired mic cable
    - 3.5mm wireless transmitter
    - Hard-shell carry case
    - Micro USB charging cable
    - USB/AC adapter
    - Airplane plug adapter
    - 1/4" gold-plated adapter
50 Cent’s wireless headphones are finally nearing release and I just received multiple pics and a full spec sheet concerning the upcoming high-end model. Sync by 50 uses the now-popular unibody casing but features full on-board playback controls — something no other headphones can proclaim. Housed in each can is a 40mm driver, which is surrounded by a memory foam cushion. The 3.5mm wireless adapter is said to broadcast the signal 50 feet and somehow allow four simultaneous wireless connections through an unnamed wireless standard.

The spec sheet brags that the headphones features a professionally tuned digital EQ along with 16-bit lossless digital sound. The headset apparently charges through micro USB and ships with a wired mic cable (classy) and a hard-shell carrying case. However, the spec sheet doesn’t state the price or release date.

These headphones have had a long journey. 50 Cent (or one of his many companies) teamed up with Sleek Audio last year who later proudly displayed their joint effort at CES. That deal fell through last May. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s SMS Audio then picked up the project and later bought KonoAudio whose founder is now the president at SMS Audio. 50 Cent joins Dr. Dre and Ludacris in the headphone game.

My source couldn’t dig up the price but indicated that this model along with a wired headset and earbuds will launch within the coming months. However, don’t expect these to be inexpensive. Beats By Dr. Dre showed there’s a market for premium lifestyle headphones and this model seems to employ a fair balance of style and technology. It’s going to be pricey.

    UPDATE 1/6/11

The Sleek By 50 Cent™ over the ear Wireless Hybrid headphones offer features unlike any other:

    * Can be used as wired or wireless headphones, with detachable cables
    * Has a wireless system which allows the user to listen to lossless, 16-bit sound quality with 60 feet of range, 2.4GHz. signal
    * Up to 4 headphones can synchronize to one media player with no degradation to sound quality
    * User controlled volume, tracks and tuning with the Enhanced Dynamic Sound (EDS)
    * Minimal battery drain from media player as the headphones and transmitter are independently charged through micro-USB
    * In the event wireless charge depletes during use, listening can be resumed with cables
    * The 50mm. driver is pro-tuned by the acoustic professionals of Sleek Audio and tested by 50 Cent
    * The unique feature of this custom speaker system is the combination of both power and clarity
    * The headphones are amplified for a concert-like experience when used wirelessly, and can also be used without the amplifier and with the cable while maintaining audiophile sound quality
    * Sleek mobile audio products offer options to customers as to how they listen to their music -- each ear is unique. The earphones can produce different sound signatures

Beyond the wireless technology, critical points of the Sleek Platinum headphones construction incorporate military-grade carbon fiber and metal accents strategically placed for both form and function. These materials are used to house two pro-tuned 50mm. dynamic drivers, powered by a customized internal amplifier for unparalleled audio performance. Tested by some of the industry's most critical producers, recording artists and audiophiles, the Sleek Platinum headphones are the world's most comprehensive mobile audio product.

    Portable Audio / Video,
Sleek Audio teases wireless headphones, 50 Cent provides inspiration
By Darren Murph posted Jan 4th 2011 10:49AM
What's this? Wouldn't you like to know. Now that Dr. Dre and HP have teamed up to strike gold in the consumer audio space, it looks as if Sleek Audio is doing its darnedest to replicate success. Sleek -- which tickled our ears quite pleasantly with last year's SA1 -- is apparently gearing up to unveil something special here at CES. Mum's the word on what, exactly, but judging by the image above, we're assuming it'll be a pair of high-end wireless (Kleer?) headphones with the backing of 50 Cent. You'll also notice a svelte carbon fiber exterior, which ought to flex just right as the low-lows are passing through its drivers. Head on past the break for the full image, and keep it locked right here as we dig for more.

Looks like 50 is gonna compete with Dr. Dre in the High End Headphone market. I know a lot of people dont like Dre beats made by Monster. Anyone know how Sleek Audio is? never heard of them

I'm guessing these will end up like Dre's, as in they'll be good, but overpriced for what they really are.

As nice as they look I'm just too hesitant to buy anything that just has some rapper's name on it without a loooooooooot of people telling me it's super awesome.

It's not an endorsement deal like dre's, 50 spent his own money to invest in sleek audio and have them develop this product

I was always baffled by this; why does everyone get headphones as opposed to great speakers?

I use my pc for gaming and have a plasma hooked up for movies. I game on smaller lcd's and my speakers are situated based on the location of my tv, not pc monitors, this is why I game with headphones

Because, for a single listener, good headphones are entirely superior to good speakers.

But lol @ buying anything endorsed by a rapper.

I was always baffled by this; where do you get this wild assumption from? already have a 7.2 system at home, these will replace my older senn's.

I was always baffled by this; do you only lurk on one forum? Perhaps any other computer oriented setups where 99% of the posters use headphones as opposed to speakers? You should try harder.

again, they seem pretty fucking boss, but i still don't know how much of that 350$ is the 50 cent name, i understand these weren't created under the same circumstances as the Beats headphones, but I feel like there's way better options out there for that price range that don't have the 50cent name on them.
