I think even ebony weapons are better for enchanting than glass.

edit: yeah, Glass is 15, Orcish is 30, Ebony is 50, and Daedric is 75 for helmets for example (actually Telvanni Cephalopod Helms have 100 and are light armor)

looks like I have lots of work to do, raising my heavy armor skill and tracking down a full daedric set and enchanting some shit. I still dont have the Summon Golden Saint spell but I haven't done much exploring of the Telvanni towns
Full suit of daedric is really hard to find. There is a very high level mage in Telvanni that has the chest, boots, and leggings, but he is important to the story. If you kill him, you have to finish the game the hard way or you have to wait until you are done with his quests.

oh yea I meant breton. Yeah I was dumb and picked Imperial and The Steed, and now my max mana isnt high enough to do anything fun. I wish higher skills lowered spell costs like in Oblivion but oh well. I guess I'll just bump my MP to like 500 with the console, when it's time to enchant lol

so finally after DAYS of questing I'm ready to go to Sadrith Mora. I'm at the stage where I can become Arch-Mage, and I'm the highest rank in Tribunal Temple and I think Fighter's Guild too. I've been doing just about every quest I come across, still there's like at least 4-5 towns in addition to Sadrith Mora that I've literally never been to. Fuck I love this game

How exactly do you increase your max magicka anyways? Being low on MP is a problem I've always had in both Morrowind & Oblivion, and I figured it was more due to my build rather than race.

I mainly like going for a thieving build (light armor, dagger/bows, pickpocketing/lockpicking/bartering) with a mix of support magics (Cure/Heal/Recall, etc) as khajiit, but I always ended up having to keep a few potions handy to restore MP.

High Elves and Bretons start out with more MP (pretty sure it's +100 for high elves and +50 for bretons), and then there's 2 zodiac signs you can pick that give you more magicka as well. Other than that you can increase your INT, and then enchanted gear with Fortify Intelligence or Fortify Magicka will increase it. You can use potions/spells that have Fortify Magicka too, I guess.

Could just stick it on a ring, makes things easier. There are some items that increase magicka, but generally if you increase conjuration it'll lessen the cost required to summon something. I'm not sure what a golden saint is at 100 conjuration, but I'd guess less than 100 magicka. And items and armours enchantment value is related to what the item or armour is, and not its gemstone. Daedric armour has the most (its tower shield has a 225 enchant).

does increasing skill lower magic costs? I thought that was morrowind only. With 100 conjuration Golden Saints still cost 165 to summon, which is more MP than an imperial/breton would have at 100 INT, assuming they didn't have a star sign that gave them more magicka. Did you mean a summon golden saint ring? That's not a bad idea, although I'm not sure how many charges you'd get out of that

Also I really don't know which house to join. I was thinking Hlaalu cuz they seem the nicest, but Telvanni looks like I'll get some nice magey items too... even though they're pretty mean and have slaves everywhere. Apparently there's a way to join BOTH Hlaalu and Telvanni, so maybe I'll give that a try.

I've finally figured out how to manage my in-game goals. I have a notebook for quests, with 1 page for each faction and a couple pages for random quests I find/come across. I have to re-write all my notes though, doing it with quest names instead of just descriptions, so I can figure out which quests I still need later. I have an alphabetical list of every dungeon/cave/ruin in teh game so I can write down where I've explored and where I haven't yet. I also have a pad with the names of every city on it, and then when I need to go somewhere I write it down under that city so I have a to-do list broken up by town.

One thing I'm doing in Morrowind that I didn't do in Oblivion (mostly because I didn't trust it to leave my items undisturbed on xbox) is putting my nice items out for display on the shelves in my Private Mobile Base. My armory is coming along nicely

I am guessing that I'll easily put in 200 hours into this game. Oblivion was 249 for me with Shivering Isles, but I am guessing that Morrowind could even exceed that with Bloodmoon/Tribunal.

Does anyone know where you can still download the official plugins? Mostly interested in Master Index to get around but I don't see it on bethesda's website

They're your two biggest mod sites for it, just remember to pickup the morrowind stuff and not the oblivion stuff. The Master Index plugin can be found here specifically.

Ouch at the 100 conjuration, guess they really mean't for it to be hard to cast. You could try making your own spell with it but a shorter lasting time than what it normally comes with, as long as its long enough for you to capture it. Morrowind was my only 200hr+ game, so it wouldn't surprise me if you do make it past that mark.

yea although I am definitely trying to save time by looking up quests on the wiki. Btw, the wiki for this game is AMAZING. It has like... every morsel of morrowind info imaginable. Elder Scrolls fans are fucking crazy lol

like for example, how much do I love this map:

so regarding Thieves Guild and Fighters Guild:

    Spoiler: show
How much do these 2 conflict at the end? Some of Gentleman Jim Stacey's quests indicate that to rid the Fighter's Guild of corruption, I'm going to have to kill Sjoring Half-Heart, but won't that affect my ability to reach the highest rank in the fighters guild? Is there a way to become the head of both guilds? I guess I can finish all of the other Thieves Guild/Bal Molagmer quests first and then just do Percius' quests and not even bother with the 2 Sjoring Half-Heart quests since I'm sure those will get me booted from the Thieves Guild lol

Also out of curiosity, have any elder scrolls fans played The Witcher yet? How does it stack up? I actually played Divinity II on xbox which I REALLY liked a lot, now I'm thinking of going on a WRPG binge but I am not sure I want to bite the bullet on Risen or Arcania quite yet, but Witcher has always interested me.

The Witcher is pretty fun, but it is no where near the scope of Morrowind. The game is much more story driven and split up into chapters. Once you finish a chapter, you sometimes lose access to certain areas, so the game ends up being pretty linear. Granted, there are quite a few side quests. You also don't have much flexibility with your character at all, besides the last few skills you get to choose from.

    Spoiler: show
I believe at another Fighters guild, the guild leader sends you on a quest to find corruption in the Fighters Guild, and if you do that line, you can then still finish up both the Thieves Guild and the Fighters guild.

ah ok yea that's what I figured, I guess:
    Spoiler: show
I just won't do Sjoring Half-Heart's quests, and follow Percius/Gentleman Jim Stacey for the last Fighters/Thieves guild quests

I would definitely recommend Divinity 2 if people are itching for something WRPGish, although I'd probably wait to see if the re-tooled version with extra content (Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga) gets a US release, which it still might even on xbox. I remember trying to get into Gothic 3 (and the first Two Worlds) and not being able to, but Divinity 2 was a shitload of fun even though the graphics were awful lol

speaking of WRPGs, apparently there's a new one out this week called Venetica. It's apparently only 40 bucks for 360/ps3, and it's gotten pretty mediocre reviews, but has anyone played the EU release?

Watched youtube videos of it and it looks terrible. Also are you doing the expansions or just core Morrowind?

im doing core morrowind first, leaving the main quest for last, then Ill probably do tribunal, then bloodmoon. And by "doing" i mean doing literally every quest and exploring every single dungeon/ruin in the game, because I'm crazy.

I know I want to do the official plugin for master index in there somewhere but Im afraid of it screwing up one of my other mods so I dont know if I'm going to, I'd rather just use the console to bump my STR up and carry around all of the propylon indeces lol

And yea I saw that video for Venetica too, it looks pretty bad, but then again I thought Divinity 2 looked like shit and then I had a fantastic time playing it.

Its been so long since i have played and i dont know if some of this stuff has been patched but ill offer up some tidbits anyway..

-The max level is not capped by your skills, you can hit lvl99 as far as i know ( i did it on the original xbox). There is a way around the cap but you have to figure it out yourself, its kinda obvious but ill probably take this one to the grave lol

-There is a house in balmora that contains no important characters and is pretty much free to take. I think its to the right of the house redoran building. The first floor is loaded with tables and shelves to display your loot if your into that.

-If you join house telvannni you get easier access to the daedric crescent and if you complete the quest line the telvanni house you get is probably the craziest looking. Also the crescent is really good, paralyze on strike for 10 secs with around 15-20 charges iirc.

-I found that marking at the mudcrab merchant the best use for mark/recall. He has 10,000 gold and either low or zero merchantile. Recall after looting and sell your crap then head to vivec to travel elsewhere.

-I recommend doing the main quest as early as you can to get all the good spoils, especially the restore fatigue ring and azura's star.

-You can get a dwemer centurion to follow you around and fight for you, although he dies easily. You can make him stay inside a house

-its fun to leap across the map in 3 jumps.

you get azura's star through the main quest? I loved that artifact in Oblivion, so useful.

started up again last night, think I might actually play the game this time. made a Breton mage with Apprentice birthsign, and that together with the Oblivion-style MP regen mod is making the game a lot more fun. also used the console to alter my Athletics score to 60 which solved the problem of slow running. did a little exploration but ended up traveling to Balmora via Silt Strider fairly early on, only for Caius Whatshisname to tell me I'm too much of a greenhorn to work for him just yet... guess it's back to exploring and questing for now.

You don't get Asura's star through the main quest, its a Daedric Shrine quest. Does the same thing though more or less.

Level 99 can be reached by lowering your skills through time spent in jail.

Also, after you've completed the Tribunal expansion, I suggest people make King Helseth have an "accident" for what is probably the best item Morrowind offers.
