iirc, there was a glitch with one of the master trainers, where you could fortify your skill over 100 and get infinate training from them. It wouldn't actually increase your skill, but would count towards leveling up :3

I just did them in order as they came out, as for which gives better gear I can't remember. Bloodmoon was more enjoyable though, I would save that for last.

Reinstallation question: Do you need the CD to actually run the game? My DVD drive is borked and only works intermittently so I could manage reinstallation but not be able to rely on it to play the game. Also steam version is horribly overpriced (and doesn't even come with the construction set).

You need the CD to run it, I'm sure theres probably a way around it though using daemon tools or a crack. I personally do Tribunal then Bloodmoon, I'd second the Bloodmoon was the better though.

And I always knew there was a better way to level up than murder sprees.... Alas, the days of Shadow the ripper have come to an end.

Sooo... I'm currently head of the Fighter's Guild, Archmage of the Mages Guild, head of the Thieves Guild, Morag Tong Master (pretty sure you need to beat the main story to become grandmaster), head of the Imperial Legion, Imperial Cult, and Tribunal Temple. I am head of House Hlaalu too, I contemplated using the console/glitch to become head of a 2nd house too but eh, I just kept my save before I joined a house. All I have left for faction quests are 2 from the temple in Ghostgate.

I've also visited every single dungeon/cave/ruin in the game except for 4, as well as the dungeons inside the Ghostgate. I haven't been over to that island with Fort Fire because I don't have that plug-in yet.

I guess I'll finish exploring, finish the main quest, pick up all the random quests I can find in towns that I haven't done yet. Then I'll probably do the 2 expansions (Bloodmoon will take a while, I bet) and try to do Master Index/Fort Firemoth plugins at some point. It's a good thing this doesn't keep track of my playtime lol

Anyone had problems with W7 64bits and Morrowind?

I installed GOTW edition and ran it

When it tries to run bloodmoon, it says that most file have problem because my path is too long (program files(x86) etc and ask me to trunk them, which I say yes.

Then the game crash

Tried with XP comptability and etc.

Is this thread about Morrowind or Skyrim? Title + OP confused me.

I only played a bit of obliv, never did get into morrowind. I do have a lot of time to burn, and a new 30inch monitor... maybe I'll pick these up again.

most of the problems with morrowind seem to revolve around installing it to the default directory (c:\program files x86\bethesda\morrowind i think), you have to install to a different directory (c:\morrowind is what I did) and I also had to change everything I installed so it wasn't read-only as well

Meh the game doesn'T let me choose where to install it, it automaticly propose PRogram files X86

I had that same problem too, did you try launching setup.exe after exploring the dvd rather than letting it launch the installer automatically? Either that or just install morrowind and move it manually, then change the permissions, then install the rest of the expansions. I know it tends to fuck up installation of meshes/textures from Tribunal/Bloodmoon so I actually just copied those over manually.

Also now I'm done with the main quest, explored every ruin/dungeon, and done with all the other quests except for a few wilderness escorts that I'm not going to bother with. I didn't do House Redoran or House Telvanni's quests, maybe I'll go back for them. Next up is Tribunal! I'm actually really looking forward to Bloodmoon the most though.

It's really hard for me to compare Oblivion and Morrowind cuz I played Oblivion first, but I really love both games now. I would have to say they're about equal in my mind in terms of overall enjoyment, although if I had played Oblivion on PC so I could fix bugs with the console I probably would have ended up liking Oblivion a bit more. Together with Shivering Isles though, I really gotta say Oblivion starts to edge out Morrowind for me.

Is it worth trying to play Daggerfall or Arena?

just reached Vivec and I'm starting to understand why people love Morrowind so much. a city made of floating pyramids linked by bridges, surrounded by giant mushrooms? Oblivion doesn't have anything that comes close to this cool.

still getting used to a lot of the other changes that were made for Oblivion though. being able to run into high-level enemies (and treasure) right off the bat is weird. same with spells not being restricted by skill tiers. spells also seem to have been rebalanced for Oblivion (all Bound Weapons being available right away in Morrowind, and all at the same price/mana cost, is awesome) . not being able to use poisons from alchemy to coat your weapons is a huge disappointment. melee combat is just plain fucked up but summoned weapons are pretty overpowered so far, and conjurer is a main skill for me, so that works out okay.

oh and I haven't gotten them yet, but I am looking forward to mark/recall SO MUCH. just need to get up the gold to buy them. every open-ended RPG should have something like mark and recall.

make sure you get one of the mods that lets you mark/recall more than once location at a time.

Oh man they have that? Well I guess it's too late now, since I'm like halfway done with Bloodmoon and it's all I have left to do.

Also that DaggerXL thing looks really sweet, I guess I'll wait to attempt Daggerfall until then.

thanks, I'll have to do that. I don't play PC games so I'm continually amazed by how easy it is to tailor Morrowind to your own specifications. of course, it's a lot easier now than it was when the game came out.
