Godzilla (May 16th, 2014)

Fuck the haters. Movie was amazing, 10/10. People who complained about the minimal monster fighting sound like they've never seen a Godzilla flick before. There was always 20-30 minutes max of fighting, if you were lucky. Most of the movie focused on the humans trying to stop whoever was the main bad guy/Godzilla in the intermission between fights. Godzilla movies never really focus on Godzilla.

People need to stop bitching, the pay off was worth it with the two fights at the end. They teased, but they also showed enough during the movie to keep you on the edge of your seat for more.

Way better than Roland Emmerich go, appropriate to the classic films, when you do see the fights they're awesome.
But yeah Aaron Johnson not as good as he was in Kick-Ass. Watanabe poorly written.

All in all, I'd say worthwhile. But I want a Pacific Rim 2 more than I want another US Godzilla

3d was good, most of the movie was boring as fuck. The theater being hot enough to kill people without a drink was the only reason I didn't fall asleep.

Real talk, did anyone who thought the movie was boring/terrible actually like the original Godzilla movies? This one handled the human element in a kinda mediocre fashion, but it was pretty much par for the course as far as Godzilla movies go.

still, was pretty epic. dat roar, i lost my shit. i was a raging, snarling godzilla fanboy as a kid. godzilla was the only thing to possibly rival star wars as the #1 spot in my imagination as a child in the 70's. the movie followed its predecessors maybe a little too closely. would have loved more screen time for the big guys duking it out. the fight scenes were great, but too short.

still, like folks have said, it's a godzilla movie and that's what comes with the brand name.

7.5-8/10 for pure nostalgia bomb factor. with more monster face time, this could have been a 10/10.

As an EOD tech, this movie was absolutely realistic. I've actually deployed with a buddy of mine who fought alongside godzilla in the helmand provenance of afghanisran. He said he was a cool guy, but never did laundry and his noise discipline on night raids was piss poor.
