I like how the Verizon site used a jpg where they normally have a Adobe Flash ticker to make the announcement.

With how apple releases phones, version 5 would be out in 5-6 months from now.
I just don't see apple releasing a iphone capable of LTE this year, it would just severely piss off alot of verizon customers who cannot upgrade to it because they purchase this phone. Apple/Verizon should have just held off until a LTE model was ready to go, verizon fans have waited 3 years for this.... what would be another couple of months? XD
Honestly how many people actually USE the internet while they are talking on the phone? And i'm not talking about a computer for the comments that i know are gonna follow. As much as I hate apple, at least the phone will be usable now for making phone calls unlike that shitty service that AT&T provides.
The phone doesn't let me browse without being on wifi?
I am disappoint, I was very much looking forward to this for a while.
Using internet + talking on the phone: bluetooth headset >_> Could be talking to someone and trying to use Google maps at the same time, for example. Maybe someone sends you an email with a link to verify. Who knows.
Regardless, each tech has pros and cons. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see how the iPhone stands up, since if it has similar issues on both AT&T and Verizon, it'd certainly point more towards a problem with phone itself than the gut reaction of "stupid AT&T" every time it's less than perfect.
most likely the iPhone 5 will be nothing more than a speedier version of iPhone 4. Better processor, maybe a fancy new gizmo like how the compass was added to 3GS, stuff like that. But as for a major retooling, nah, not until 6.
Thanks for the CDMA explanation!
Dunno about you, but I'm talking to friends a lot while trying to look something up..
#You are talking to a friend and want to see a movie? Oh yeah! Let me call you back!
#You are talking to a friend and trying to explain directions to get somewhere... Oh yeah! Let me call you right back as I pencil down the instructions to read off to you!
#How about if your talking on the phone and they want to know the weather? Opps, let me call you right back!
Just saying, there are tons of things I use both for all the time. Being on the phone and finding directions as somebody reads me the address is one of the most common.
But you can use both if your in a wifi hot spot? How does that work if the phone can generate a wifi connection for up to 5 phones... wouldn't you just always keep the phone in wifi mode or w/e it is so that you could always do both?
Fine, all you guys win. I guess i'm just old school.
Thank god google maps is getting better with offline shit so that fixes one point. As for movie depending on what program it should buffer to a point where unless you are just starting the movie you should be fine(unless your talking about netflix, no clue how that works till android gets it.)
Having net is nice, Iv lived this long without it. So its not a make or break for me. I guess you could always hold a second phone wireless tether!
Your hotspot would also be cut out I think if you answered a call, someone tell me if I am wrong. I only no how the kernal works for free wifi tethering via the android shell.
You can not project wifi if you answer(it should cut out).
Edit: if you are hocked up via a rounter(hotspot) yes you can use the browser and such. I dont think I fully understand what you mean by the last line though, are you asking about the phones hotspot? or are you asking about linking the phone to wifi? just answered both to be safe ~_~
Is the default iPhone google gps not Internet depending out of traffic updates? I was rly looking forward to verizon getting the iPhone, I guess I'm just a little taken back that they can't offer one of the significant selling points of the iPhone (you all know you have seen endless commercials promoting the iPhone as being able to talk and browse at the same )
Dunno about you guys.... But I use data while on a phone call nearly everyday.
Speaker phone call >> look up something on Internet/google maps
