Arizona Congresswoman + Six Others Shot and Killed

We now have apparently confirmed reports that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was shot and killed this morning by an as-yet-unidentified assassin at a "Congress on Your Corner" event outside a grocery store in her district in Tucson, Arizona. She was reportedly shot in the head at point blank range. There were at least three other and possibly as many as six other killed in the shooting.

Giffords, 40, had just been elected to her third term representing Arizona's 3rd Congressional district.

NPR is saying the shooter was a 20 something male, wearing dark clothes and being described as "fringe". Apparently called out the names of his targets as he shot them, but said nothing else while shooting or being held down.

Conflicting reports right now. A surgeon on the scene + the sheriff are reporting she's in critical condition.

Most of the radio stations are reporting that she's dead. MSNBC says no, who the fuck knows.

Just glancing at her wiki page, Congresswoman Giffords was a pro-choice, pro gun rights, pro border security democrat. Id think this Palin "target" campaign was more about the pro-choice part and her vote for the healthcare law. You could just as easily say it was some crazy white leftist teen-something who disagreed with the her stance on border security as you could blame Palin or Beck.

The way the scene is being described as occuring sounds like this was planned. Id be curious for much more in the details department before everyone starts the political sniping.
