Who hasn't seen the vitriolic hate speech that goes on in politics today? Every election floods TVs with attack ads. We see them here in Canada as well, both the American version on American channels and the copycat Canadian politicians doing the same now.

Honestly, I don't know why people are so worked up to pass blame onto someone else. Everyone has been involved in the current climate of hate in politics. These people should just own up, take responsibility, and change themselves for the future.

That's depressing. It would be a nice change for a politician to man up and take responsibility for something. If one of them said "I'm part of the problem but I'm going to fix myself" I wouldn't blame them for this shooting.

I like that while liberals are fighting amongst eachother, some claiming that this attack was assisted by violent political rhetoric while other liberals criticize the previous ones for jumping into conclusions, conservatives in relative unison are claiming the left is out to frame the right for this attack.

I'm of the camp that thinks that the truth often matters, but not always. Truth is especially important depending on context, say an academic discussion. But i draw a distinction between academics and politics.

In this specific instance, i don't think there are enough links between the killer and the american right-wing to effectively pin the blame on the right, so it doesn't matter.
