I don't necessarily blame Sarah Palin, but at the very least this should give pause to anyone who thinks it appropriate to use gun-related imagery and terminology when making a list of political targets. or to put that on a broader level, I hope this serves as a warning of where the current level of violent political rhetoric and refusal from both sides to cooperate and compromise will lead us.

I had a post almost saying almost exactly this typed up before the thread was oops-locked.

Politics dominated by rhetoric is bad, politics dominated by violent rhetoric is disgusting and completely counterproductive for anyone looking to promote a rational, legitimate political environment.

I don't know whether to blame the media for promoting it for ratings or politicians that play off of it for popularity.

It's just one of the many reasons I have no hope for the political system of the US to ever become anything more than a twisted parody of a reasonable, informed democracy.
