I always liked Alexander myself. My wife wants to name our girl Mackenzie whenever we do have kids. Truthfully, it's probably best to have a grouping of say 10-20 names then pick something after you actually have the baby. I'm kind of making a list of name that, hopefully, we'll put to use sometime later this year or early next.

    So far:

    Boys:
    Arthur, Alexander

    Girls:
    Morrigan, Evelyn

The girl ones are kind meh, but they may not be too popular. I may do as someone else said and look back through the family tree.

There's a lot of Georges, Alberts, Johns, and Thomass in my family history. I'm not really sure what's in my wife's family tree, I suppose I could ask her brother and see if he knows.

Mackenzie makes me think if that party slug frim futurama. Slurm Mackenzie? Which then makes me think of the bud light mascot Spud Mackenzie the bulldog.

The wife and I had the name of our next daughter picked out, but then one day I discovered some popular show on the Disney channel which ruined that plan.

Me and my wife have our girl name picked out, Eve. I'm trying to convince her to name our son Rock but she's not having it.
My middle name's Eve - I actually really like that (hate my first name with a passion), but Evie is very popular over here as well... mine is partially for my Grandmother who was an Eva, and partially because I was the first daughter to the family for the Adam and Eve connotations.

Have actually taught a Thor that someone else mentioned - he was a thunderous little chap. Back when I was pregnant I had banned the husband from mythology or he'd have named a kid Odin or something more obscure given half the chance.

On the Aiden note - the one that I have a 100% hitrate on ending up on the wrong pronounciation of is Aaron... if you go for Ah-ron or Air-on - they're always always always the opposite one!

Mackenzie is another name spoilt for me forever by one particular child I taught (it's an occupational hazard)... this lass could find someone who'd aggrieved her to start a rukus with in an empty room - was actually a nice kid when she dropped the tough gal act. One day I'll sit down and individually name my grey hairs by which kid gave me them!

Girls wise I love Sophie (I've never ever taught a Sophie I didn't want to take home so utterly gorgeous were they), Evie again even though it's really really popular, I liked Emily but my cousin took it for her kid, and both me and the man liked Jessica before I lost the babies... but so many names are coloured by kids I've taught and there do seem to be certain trends with certain names - there was a collossal thread on a teaching website on this that of course got raked over by the media as teachers are evil evidence (and it was just stuff like Jacks tended to be bouncy but good kids basically... stuff like that).

I tend to use the "would you worry about hiring a lawyer called it" as the guideline for a name... versus "would you expect to see a stripper called it" as the contrasting criteria. And sadly, I'm not lying about the kid called BJ.

Maybe go with a germanic name then, like Volker, Hans, Alfred, Walfred, Hitler, Heinrich, Koenig, etc

Wouldn't naming a kid Hitler be a bad idea?

My last name is Kruse. So if I have a son I want to name him Pleasure. He'll be a hit with all the girls.

Hitler is actually an amazing name for a dog. Go ahead, say it aloud as if you are calling Hitler over to you.

Hitler? Why the hell didn't I think of that earlier... On a side note, how good of person would he have to be to erase the stigma?

Wouldn't have to do with the kid. You'd probably get in more trouble than the kid for naming him that, Haha.

Wife and I are fond of Zooey Amelia for a girls name. The only male name we can remotely agree on is Xavier (she prefers Zavier).

I've always felt I had a very versatile name: James Donald. James, Jim, Jimmy, Donald, Don, Donnie, Jimmy D, J.D.
I use a different variant depending on the situation. My parents/family and their friends all call me Donald. My friends call me Don. At work I go by Donnie. In college I went by James for classes, and Don for friends/social organizations. When I played in a band I went by JD. So, depending on how someone addresses me it narrows down how I know them.

I also prefer Donald just because it's not that common a name anymore, but not strange or different. It's like everyone knows a Donald but rarely more than one.

Other names I like are Malcolm, Rockford, Nevin, and Kenneth

My nephew is called Xavier, and his brother is called Isaac. I really like both.

If your child ever wants to get into research/academia, adding a * after their name would greatly benefit his/her career.

I'm personally fascinated by the letter X and Z so I like Xander (Alexander I guess is ok) and Lexi (Alexis is fine too). For Z it'd be a variation of Zoey, Zooey, Zoe. I really like the sound of that name.

If I'm forced to name a female character in video games, that names always Aurora as someone mentioned a few pages back. Works in fantasy world but I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable naming my daughter that and for some reason I really like Charlie for a girls name.
