What’s wilder than people in creepy cat costumes shooting grenades and slapping people with dildo bats all day long?
I literally have no idea. But apparently THQ’s Danny Bilson does.
As he mentions in a short clip on G4, an excerpt from a longer interview that will broadcast on the channel at 6:30 p.m. EST tonight, the THQ-crew is already hard at work on Saints Row 4, while we’re all still waiting for the insanity that is the forthcoming Saints Row the Third.
Responding to an interviewer’s question on how to keep a franchise like this fresh, Bilson had this to say:
“Like any game, if you have a great creative core to it, you just keep exploiting that core, and, like, mining it and keep digging into it. For instance, I know what Saints Row 4 is about, and it is wilder than this one. It’s a good example of how you take what you have and you go, ‘well, what could happen with it next?’”
What could happen next? Probably something like “Shootout at the Dildo Factory” or “Hooker Olympics” or “Hair-Pie Eating Contest.” Just throwing those ideas out there. As always, I’m waiting for my check, THQ.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. According to a press release published today, THQ tells us that players have already created over 1.2 million unique characters in the Saints Row Initiation Station. And, apparently, only 24 of them are called “God,” “representing a variety of religious backgrounds.”
Saints Row the Third: Spreading religious tolerance through sex and violence—just like in the Bible.
“The characters we’ve seen are mostly ridiculous, often hilarious, and always over-the-top. And now there are a million of them,” said Kevin Kraff, Vice President, Global Brand, THQ in the press release. “With the crazed creativity we’ve seen in only one week, we can’t wait to see what’s to come. One million is just the beginning.”
