Nah, that's "booshit" as chad warden would say. If losing a lot made a game totally unfun no one would play mak in super.
And if you're really losing so much that you're not having any fun at all even at the start while playing randoms then I doubt you'd be doing much if any winning on any fighting game.

No, it's not noob friendly but it's certainly not that difficult to get into and get a few notches on your belt unless you're playing nothing but pros all day.

I mean, hell... I had to take my licks when I first started but that's what makes you get better anyway.

losing with mak and "enjoying it" in sf4 is exactly what makes the game noob friendly and fun.

getting parry'd all day and shit on by yun's genei-gin isn't exactly what I'd call the greatest time ever because it's harder to see or distinguish why you're getting pwn'd in sf3. sf3 is a better game overall, but I wouldn't waste my time with it on GGPO because the only people who play currently are people who have been playing the game for the past 15 years.

if he's going to play with his friends, then fine go for it. but if he wants to learn a fighting game, I'd recommend sf4 because theres way more people (casuals) playing it and it's way easier to learn.

It's bad but you'll at least have fun.

    Also blazblue is ass seriously
I do have vanilla SF4 but had trouble getting into it, the timing for buffering directionals and shit is different from BB and for some reason I can't nail it at all. I usually like faster games like BB/MvC/SF3 anyways, going to try out MvC3 at some point and see how I am at it. I'm really not all that great at fighting games to begin with and BB's one of the few that I actually stayed into after picking it up.

I really don't get the differences between that and something like SF4 to where people would say it's much worse, lol. Is it unbalanced? Sort of, in that there's 2 noob-friendly characters, two awful-as-shit characters, and then a bunch that are pretty even. It is gimmicky for sure on like half of the characters, especially pieces of shit like Carl and Rachel, but to me having 14 completely different characters with 5ish gimmicky ones is no worse than having 42 characters that consist of 7 clones each of 6 character types.

I like the way BB looks, the music absolutely blows away anything that Capcom has done in like 15 years, and the story is convoluted as fuck but not too terrible once you actually figure out what the hell is happening. Like I said, I don't think it's any better than something along the lines of SF3:3S but I don't really get the grounds for saying it's leagues worse either.

    1) 3S is what's generally played on GGPO and it hasn't even been out for 15 years
    2) Nigga have you even played the fucking game? It's looking like you're regurgitating some shit you read on forums
    3) Parried all day and shit on by genei-jin? Please, nigga. Tell someone you've only recently started and people will definitely switch to alternate characters and give you pointers and shit. I know several people who only started playing last year and they have a fucking great time on GGPO, move along with the nonsense. The 3S community isn't big enough for players to just take a dump on each other at this point now that super is around.

I find it really funny that you say that, because most of the people who are really good at SF hate Blazblue, and most of the guys who are really good at Blazblue have a hard time adjusting to the pace of Street fighter. If you're having fun with it then that's all that matters though. I tried to get into BB but something about the game just doesn't sit right with me.

I cannot wait for MvC3 either though. Holy crap 1 month has never felt so far away.

I'm actually glad to hear it happened to someone other than me lol, when I picked up SF4 I was like man I've gotten a lot better at BB, maybe I'll be better at SF than I used to be since it's all the same shit, and not at all. I can't even put my finger on what it is, like buffering inputs is no biggie since you have to do it to combo at all with most characters, and the only difference input-wise is SF using negative edge instead of just repeating input while holding the button down...idk if it's just going from 4 main attack buttons to 6 that wrecks my shit or what, but I could not combo at all in SF.

    1) I was exaggerating, calm down.
    2) Yes, I had a friend try to teach me the game a few months back. He hopped on GGPO and got rapped by a Yun player. I wasn't regurgitating shit from a forum, I was speaking from experience, lol. I watched him get destroyed. Maybe we were unlucky and just ran into a string of people that were really good, idk.
    3) I'm not saying he won't learn, but most people are lazy when it comes to fighting games now a days and he didn't sound like he was interested enough waste a year out of his life learning the game.

    relax bro

Learning SF4 is really just learning how to combo, and then learning how to confirm them, and then learning how to set them up.

I'm not sure how BB works, but in SF4 a lot of character rely on hit confirms to deal most of their damage. Basically, every character has a "bread and butter" chain of attacks that deals a decent amount of damage and scores a knock down. The first thing you want to do, is pick a character, learn his bread and butter, and then figure out different ways to set it up. Then you start figuring out different ways to beat people's shenanigans, rush down, turtle, etc etc.

I honestly just don't understand BB at all. I've watched a few matches where this big ghost motherfucker was leaving shit all over the place and some umbrella girl was casting spells and shit and I was like whoamg sensory overload

It's really not all that different for the most part, outside of the gimmick characters like Rachel(umbrella girl) and Carl(little kid who has a big puppet chick with him) where you're basically trying to set traps with your gimmick then force the other person into them. Otherwise yeah there's characters that are a bit better at rushing/close or ranged/etc. A lot of the visual stuff is just that, visual stuff, one swing does a 6-hit combo that looks fancy, but does the same damage as another character's 1-hit attached to the same button. Most characters have the same bread & butter deal, like for instance I use Ragna mostly, if you catch someone with his main poke move you can cycle it into almost any of his combos, but the combo timing is really strict once you get past the basic few moves.

The defensive system's a tad more intricate than most SF games(outside of 3 I believe) but a fair amount goes unused by most casual players, except when they use it on accident lol. There's standard press back to block, you get a bonus if you time it so you do it the instant an attack contacts rather than just holding it, and there's a limited barrier to use while blocking that also prevents slip damage. There's basically an ohshit-button move that will shove the enemy back if you get cornered badly but it has really limited usage and leaves you without your barrier for a bit.

Most everything else is pretty much fundamentally the same, the visuals are a lot of times just fireworks, actually working the game isn't much different from any 2D fighter outside of the trap characters.

relative to SF though, I'd say it's probably closer to MvC without all the tag-team shit

I heard the online component of the game is really good in comparison to other fighters, so I may try it out some day. I wonder how much it's going for at gamestop

I'm not sure if/how it's changed going into CS but my experience with CT did not reflect those sentiments. It was maybe a little better than SFIV but the pace of the game offsets the difference enough that online play is still noticeably online.

Also, weren't those gimmicky trap characters some of the best ever?
