Sprint user with TP2 looking for advice.

Currently I am a TP2 owner with Sprint

With the buzz of new phones on all 3 major carriers circling and an upgrade coming up in Feb, I'm looking for some advice.

I'll be in the Chic, or NYC areas soon, and am looking to take advantage of the 4G network.

Size doesn't matter to me. I'm a tall guy, and the "larger" phones are honestly nicer. I hate toying with tiny phones. The Epic and Evo sizes are perfect.

Android is nice and fun, but I need my M$ tools. I want a W7 phone. I feel like I'm taking a gamble, but its the best choice for my line of work. (DM)

A physical keyboard is a must... Touch screens are fun, but not conducive for what I do. I like the feedback of physical buttons.

Speed. I loved my TP2 when I got it, and still don't mind it. But the memory and slowdown issues are starting to drive me nuts. I have to perpetually delete so much stuff, and at its best, I still can't get the OS to respond as fast as newer phones like the Epic or Evo.

So the bottom line is I want a 4G, W7, QWERTY keyboard phone with a fast processor...

Am I SOL for now if I am with Sprint? It looks like the next best option for that list is the HTC W7 Pro, but it doesn't take advantage of 4G. I've seen rumors of other projects like the HTC Sabor among other high end devices, but nothing concrete. If no phone is on the market, or is popping up any time soon, what time tables should I be looking for. (conventions, shows, etc)

I should also add that my TP2 is being replaced with a brand new TP2 tomorrow. I'm tempted to upgrade to an Epic for now. Then when something I really want comes out, but it straight up then sell both to regain some of my loss.

I'd skip the epic.... but really look at the HTC Evo Shift, it just came out the other day.

Its a 4g Evo model, but with a slide out keyboard like the epic.

We just got the Shift in our store... its a huge let down, so much smaller than the Evo, my iPhone is bigger.

I just checked our "Playbook" what we use to look at new releases and nothing in the near future of a WM7 phone..

They did have a teaser "Sprint unveils industry first on Feb. 9th press conference" may be a WM7 phone but that wouldnt be an industry first I guess.

If I see anything on a WM7 phone I'll repost.

Have you tried looking at the android marketplace to find apps that suit your needs? Having seen a WM7 phone I'm really not impressed by it. It's more of microsoft's form over function idealism and that never works well for a phone.

I've got a fellow Area/District Manager currently unhappy with his non windows phone and reassured my faith in Windows phone for our job. The bottom line is they need to work flawlessly with the work we put into these documents, especially when we are perpetually mobile and sending docs back and forth.

That said I came up with an idea and waiting to find out how the DM allowances go for paying for non-work provided phones. I dont want their pos blackberries anyways. I might keep my TP2 for work onry, and get a new toy for me. That said, I might get an android phone.

Does not currently exist on Sprint right now. The closest phone Sprint has avalible that meets your criteria is the Epic 4G. Are you on contract? If so then you might want to look at eBay for phones. They have a wide selection of phones for pretty niffty prices. Epic 4G's don't go for too much on eBay (typically $280 - $350 or more.) I am also currently on contract with Sprint and eBay has been a godsend to someone like me who just loves trying out all the phones I can. I have swapped phones about four times now and with eBay I can buy and resell the phones I want (for pretty good prices too.)

As I said, right now, the Epic 4G (and to a lesser extent the EVO 4G Shift) are the only phones on Sprint that will meet your criteria. WP7 phones are "suppose" to be coming out on CDMA networks this year but have not heard any formal announcement yet. If you truly want a WP7 your best bet is to drop Sprint and go to T-Mobile for the HD7 (or break a Samsung Focus for T-Mobile.)

Theres a WM7 phone set to launch Q1 this year but no clue of the specs or anything. Rumors have it being a 1GHz dual core processor similar to the bionic on verizon now. They're wanting to give me a demo phone so i dont have to carry around my iphone in the store, I'm honestly waiting to try a windows phone out once we get one in here

Just wait for the HTC 7 Pro to come out. Should be hitting sprint in "First half of 2011"
