8-bit music has always been really good; it's simple, yet complex, but just one of those niche genres.
I myself have forgotten how awesome a lot of it could be, and until Scott P The Game came out, I really forgot all about it, and have been trying to find more.
So what ive been trying to do is find more music like that. The problem with a lot of 8bit music is that it goes down a very techno-y path, which I dont like; I like the more old school feel, or ones with a more rock feeling.
I found this site http://www.8bitpeoples.com/ which is a pretty good resource, but do yall have any other suggestions for more songs/artists?
My favorite being this one (after the 14 mark), when the bass kicks in, it's just an awesome sound, I wish it went on much longer, and to find something simiar would be great.
Another good one with the best part after the 1:00 mark
Its fantastic for finding stuff, as the community that posts on here includes all the big names you would like, i.e. anamanaguchi, who did the scott pilgrim video game soundtrack. Some of my favs to check out would be 4mat, wiklund, dexter, henry homesweet, hurrigame boy.
I make music on old gameboys using LSDJ and nanoloop, I also use Korg DS-10 and various other little chip utilities. If you're interested in trying it out, I'd be glad to point you in the right direction. On 8bc, we're very helpful when it comes to beginners and you can see from the site everyone from beginners to some of the best in chip post their stuff.
Anamanaguchi did the soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim.
They have two albums you can get via iTunes, and last summer that had a summer hits or something that released a song every two weeks.
