I believe that this is a gross over exaggeration. FFXIII-2 offers over 100+ hours of gameplay, and plenty of sidequests. I would say that its more complete than FFXIII. The only difference is that the story may be continued in DLC. I do not think that alone makes it an unfinished game.

We have no proof that the proper ending isn't gonna be free DLC too.

I said this earlier but if the DLC provides at least 10-15+ hours of story (that is actual story/gameplay and not including grinding), then I'll probably be fine with it.

However if it's like 3-5 hours, I don't think it will be satisfying (might just feel rushed if it's shorter than 10 hours IMO).

I guess we'll have to see.

100? I'm 40 hours in with every role 999, 156/160 fragments( Enemy report, lucky coin, and 2 paradox endings missing). I also kept my game on a lot while I raided on WoW, watched TV, etc.

Wow, that is short. Though the question is were the 40 hours spent fun 40 hours or boring 40 hours? That's the difference between games which have high hour count due to grind vs games which are long and fun to play all the way through. From what I've seen, leveling and grinding does seem much easier than in FFXIII or FFXII (see video below).

Most of the hours from FFXII or FFXIII was grinding (though I found FFXIII's length good considering there was almost 10 hours worth of cutscenes alone and I like cutscenes).

It really does depend on how long the DLC is. I heard they said they'll want to do DLC in multiple parts (maybe we get 1 month of story DLC every month for a few months?) which likely means the DLC will probably be a decent length.

    _________

As for grinding being easier in FFXIII-2, *after you collect all fragments (which is basically after you nearly 100% the game >.>), you can fast forward (like in Chrono Cross except you only turn it on/off in the menu rather than pressing a button).

*(My mistake, you only can fast forward after obtaining all fragments rather than after finishing the game.)

Farming gil in FFXIII-2 (also rejoice, as running around in circles to grind is now back in Final Fantasy):

The super speed skill is from getting 160/160 fragments. By the time you get it there's nothing else to do lol

To get ult weapons you need to buy an item from Casino, then give it to Hope. You pick Serah or Noel's, and the one you didn't pick shows up in Casino.

Also, ult weapons atk/matk is based on how many fragments you have. At 156 fragments, they have 137? or something ATK. At max they are 220 atk/mtk. Again, by the time you max it there's nothing to do with it ._. The crafted wepaons from shop are a lot better.

Do you get bunch of choices again or is it simple? I never knew what to upgrade in 13 nor did I really care

Sorta. Most of the time you will be using whatever has more damage. For example, when a 60(I don't remember exact numbers) atk weapon was added to shop; A crafted one with like 20 atk but Chain Bonus Lv1 was added. Pretty useless. The stats for Serah's last 2 weapons before ultimate are 115ATK/160Matk ATB gauge+1 and 140atk/200matk no bonus.

Do you have to equip anything to remove the damage cap in FFXIII-2 or is it 999k by default? I always hated that because essentially it removes one accessory slot from your character (well at least whoever was the damage dealer). More accessories = more customizable.

A comparison I like to use is imagine if the damage capped at 99 in FFXI and you had to equip a ring or some item with "break damage limit" to do more than 99 damage. Also said item would only have "break damage limit" and no other stat. You'd think what's the point of having two ring slots when one of them is almost always going to be the "break damage limit" ring (well at least for any job that uses 2 handed weapons to DD).

I was sort of fine with FFX's way of doing it (just adding it onto the weapon) but otherwise just uncap the damage from start IMO.

I definitely liked the concept though (the multiple choice thing).

Good concept but they could have done it much better FFXIII. One thing I disliked was that every ultimate weapon loss their synth ability from the previous tier (stuff like ATB Recharge +10% would have made weapons more distinct). This made a lot of the weapons more or less the same than usual. Another is balancing (some characters had a not so great set of weapons while others were more okay).

IMO, they should have let you just make your own weapon (chose the passive abilities, synth abilities, etc).

Afaik, still a rumor or did somebody actually get a proper translation of that youtube vid Burningthought linked? Might be mistaken for that Sazh story dlc?

Anyway, finally beat it, final battle was fun yet annoying too, but that was probably due to my shitty battle plan at the start lol.

As for the ending, I actually liked it

Burningthought's link in the spoiler of that post a few pages back is pretty much what I thought while playing.

I'll spoiler the rest I have to add:
    Spoiler: show
The scene halfway in the game where Caius says the stuff that Noel remembers at the end of the game was on my mind since I saw it, made me wonder how SE would pull this one off, since you couldn't win either way if it were true. I was actually happy to see SE had the balls to match it in the ending. I was beginning to fear they would pussy out before that moment (battle included) and it would be added in that "proper ending" DLC.

The whole game had a "can't escape fate" vibe for me. Where Fang and Vanille defied "fate" with their little pillar only to see it destroyed centuries later, Caius' speech halfway and all sorts of other things made that vibe very strong for me. So I was actually happy with this ending.

I should add, I liked XIII's ending (which some didn't here I see), so obviously your experience of XIII-2's ending may differ from mine when you get to it. I can understand why people are pissed at XIII-2's ending now lol

Well I'm guessing there is no need to in FFXIII-2 then if the highest is only 1 million or so.

In FFXIII the damage/HP were really inflated (highest HP mob had 16 mil or so while damage capped at 999k with genji gloves).

Didn't Caius defy fate himself by merging time, removing Etro, and preventing the Yuels from dying over and over? Only difference is it's the "bad guy" defying fate instead of the good guys.
    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/61931...iii-2/61449051

"By the end of the game, we see Caius stab himself through the Heart, thus dying, and removing the presence of Etro in the process. Of course, we are only told of this in the ending, after Serah's vision, and that Chaos from Vallaha has flowed into the real world, merging both worlds together in a Timeless zone.

    Technically, Caius won."

I considered the ultimate fate in the XIII universe that the world would be destroyed, sooner or later. This is the vibe I got from XIII-2. Cocoon falling failed, so Caius stepped in with a new plan. He mentions somewhere in the game that Cocoon not falling caused Yuel great pain (one's fortune is another's tragedy he says) so he goes out of his way to make it happen anyway. Whatever methods he uses to get to that point including killing himself just adds more to the fun imo. So yeah, he wins =)

Either that or the two jp steamers I watched for a week straight were just slow.
