Just got done fucking about with the demo, didn't want to take it too seriously and ruin the fun come retail so I just ran around, read shit etc.
Just from the hour I played I am amped for this title..the monster crystal and new crystarium systems are awesome from what I could see, although I see CP grinding being a factor seeing as there is so much to spend it on but we all know a FF game isn't FF without a bit of grinding right?
This is a definite title on my list for this year, and I see myself spending a lot of my very limited time on it ^^/
I don't think the game's really harsh enough that you'll suffer from failing a QTE really, just miss out on some damage or a buff.
The moogle really sucks, in my opinion. They could've drawn inspiration from so many previous games for it to make it fit with the universe, and it still could've floated around and provided comic relief without looking like a stupid blow up doll. Just adding it as a guardian of serah who doesn't participate in battles but also doesn't transform into a weapon (...) would've suited me just fine.
Hell, I could've even looked past the voice, although that could've been done better.
About the leveling thing, people in the streams were maxing out their roles pretty quickly, so I wouldn't be too concerned about how grindy it is. That and you'll most likely max out everything by the time you get all the fragments.
If you explore the whole place clearing the 3 sidequests it'll last one hour at the very least. You can play and grind as much as you like though, there are quite a few monsters to try out and you can develop Serah and Noel as much as you want.
I wouldn't be too worried about QTEs honestly. In the demo the only rewards you get for a perfect QTE are fashion items for monsters and in the main game you can repeat fights as much as you want.
Anyone know why the demo has a save feature? Does it unlock anything in the real game??
The only gripe I have with the game so far is that the cursor doesn't automatically default to your party leader after you change it, leading you to accidentally target the wrong person.
This is especially annoying when playing as MED and SYN after you changed leader.
Played it for 10mins so far:
QTEs: Not hard, but felt weird as it forced me to pay attention. Neutral
---
Being able to talk to NPCs felt weird. Seems to take "long".
First random battle: OMG Cait Sith! Killed him though
EDIT: oh Cait Sith is pet lol. Thought I "lost it forever"
EDIT2: Cait Sith is quite cute!
EDIT3: I like how Serah will melee with a sword in Commando. And Optima Changes seem very smooth now.
EDIT4: This pet system is quite a cool idea!
EDIT5: Choco lady = lol. Cute though. Annoying voice.
EDIT6: Oh hey it's like chapter 11 already from FF13. MISSIONS!
EDIT7: Not liking QTEs much! I can't see what's going on in fights![]()
Yah Brother wasn't my favourite.
Also, is fighting a fragment dude/boss now (mission boss), reused FFXIII music. Is this demo only or part of the game? I was quite surprised to hear it lol
Yeah and JP to NA wasn't conceivable in a month either. I think the difference might just be games coming out on Tuesdays here and another day in EU? Not sure about normal EU day though.
Oh I won't mind Blinded by Light, or Saber's Edge. Especially Saber's Edge, the first few moments of the theme is so "grand and badass" it's awesome.
By the way can I save the game in the demo? I just realised I need to start again, I thought the game auto-saved (as explained when loading, but I only read it briefly) so I just switched it off and didn't bother with a save point, as I couldn't find one.
No biggy though, I only played for 20 odd minutes before putting it down.
To be honest, the wide open area, the amount of NPCs I needed to speak to, and the none linear gameplay is still currently a "shock" to me lol
Why do you have to take them so seriously? I don't think that's the idea behind these characters.
Eccentric, comic-relief NPCs aren't exactly new to FF you know and they're usually well received by the audience. Chocolina is just FFXIII-2's version of Namingway and Queen of Cards, except she runs a shop instead of renaming your characters or alterning card rules.
It's unfair to compare her to Brother, because she does something useful for the player, unlike him.
I don't really understand the hate for Moogle. Better to have around than hope/vanille tbh.
I think the hate comes from Mog saying "Kupo" instead of making kupo sounds.
I don't mind his voice and he doesn't seem to be a complete idiot either. The way he worded his explaination about Serah and Noel's control over monsters was pretty good.
I'm jealous each time Serah hugs him and plants his face to her chest.![]()
@stig
More music returns from XIII, Dust to dust too.
Game has no savepoints. There's an option in the pause menu to save.
