Well maybe Appie can say something but.

When you start the demo it says Chapter 2, so you kinda start the game and you are lv 7 so i guess it's normal.

Maybe the fact you already have 3 roles but it was like that in FFXIII too so

I'm hoping when you play through the actual game it's a little bit more challenging (admittedly, I sold the load of phoenix downs you get to buy them their second weapons but I guess you'd have the gil to buy them by then in the normal game), using 2 monster abilities in particular (the little bug thing's magic def down + damage one, and the commando walking robot thing's high damage ability) I zerged atlas pretty hard, the robot pretty much KO'd him as soon as he was staggered.

I think part of it is the fact that from an early stage you can line up RAV/RAV/RAV and COM/COM/COM paradigms which are pretty powerful with the team bonus. With FFXIII it wasn't really possible to do that until a few chapters in being as the team was so fragmented and split up all the time.

Admittedly, I bought the game when it came out but ironically (and unexpectedly) went to Japan a day after I received it (sadly, it was cheaper in Japan by about $15 and went on sale during hatsu-uri). Just got back, so I am only a few hours into it.

I just wanted to point out a few observations, and I preface this with I haven't (and probably won't) play the demo, and I skimmed the recent posts.

First, I game over'ed during the tutorial, which was both shocking and hilarious. I played through FF13 too with all of the trophies. Don't be like me and not check your char's actual commands.

Second, as several people guessed, both chars start with your primary three classes. It's not difficult to have leveled up your crystarium naturally at least once before Chapter 2 and again before Chapter 3, meaning (and I don't really recommend this) you can actually have 5 of the 6 roles by Chapter 3. CP costs seem to be linearly rising though, and your gain is not so much. The bulk of your early points will come from landmark events that grant bonus cp.

Third, if you didn't notice, when you use the crystarium, you can address certain stats based on the size of the node from the bonuses of the item you use or class you level on that node. Using a hp boost item or leveling defender on a large node grants extra hp in addition to the boost of the stats it would normally raise.

Finally, I had to potion spam a few fights already because of some aggressive decisions, but luckily you're brimming with them by the end of Chapter 1 if you are even remotely comfortable with the break system (thereby 5-starring all of your encounters and increasing item drop rate). I had close to 70? or so. Sold some for monster food, in fact.

I hope none of this info was insanely redundant. Apologies if so.

Loved everything about the demo.... Loved the Moogle and the direction they went with it.... The voice seems out of place but he's a Moogle, so he is already out of place. I even liked Chocolina.

My first impression with the demo was that I'd love to bone Noel. Once I got over the impossibility of that I quite enjoyed the demo, enough to play it a second time and figure out some of the newer gameplay elements such as the monster attachment and new crystarium. But then I was a big fan of XIII to begin with.

I quite liked the fragment system. I managed to hunt down the Ghast one but I couldn't complete the other task. I'm not too keen on the random style battles that have made a return, it feels like a step backwards. Exploring Pulse in XIII and seeing giant turtles and stuff roaming around was one of the better parts of the game.

I dont believe so, I think most of the encounters will be a random style with the Mog Clock.

Why? It's not like most FFs where "random encounters = battle screen" without even asking you if you actually want to battle or not. FFXIII-2 does give you that option through the Mog Clock, so it's nowhere as bad.
It also allows you to grind without having to change area/save and reload like you had to in FFXIII.

I'm really happy I just downloaded the demo. I was thinking of buying the KR version (JP voice, KR subs) to save about $35 compared to importing the NA version. If they're going to toss around "paradox" like it's a word people say, then I better shell out the extra dollars.

Finally got to play the demo, the only things I could complain about would be 1. Slowdowns in some places 2. No button to bring up the full-map w/o entering and navigating the menu.

Haven't played in like 2 weeks, but I'm pretty sure map is square.

anybody able to get same day delivery for amazon PS3 CE version? While it says I can, I wasn't able to change my order to get same day delivery and calling customer service said I had to cancel my order and redo it to get it. So I did this and I still can't get it. I better still get the CE since ordered it in November and had to cancel for a reason that doesn't exist (I live in CA so same day isnt ever an issue)

I can't remember what happened in the first game; does anyone have a good link to a story overview?

    Thanks

Dunno if it's allowed but if not i will get hit

    download this

    http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5732...ovie_%5BENG%5D

It's 9.3gig and 7h long but it's someone who took ALL the storyline CS and put them together. There is 1 file per chapter

First chapter is like 700mb for 25min and etc.

chapter 2 has some bug in it, but chapter 1 went fine (didn't watch the rest yet)
