Thanks :D :D
im pretty psyched for this. just played through ff13 again and I enjoyed it a lot more this time. it may lack in other areas but ff13 has imo the best battle system in the series and is a ton of fun to play
It just seems outdated. I'm sure FF1-9 would have had roaming mobs if the technology at the time allowed it. FFX was probably just a continuation of the formula. The mog clock is better than FF1-10's random battles but it's still a pain in the ass not seeing mobs in advance. Plus it ruins the immersion a bit. Could you imagine the Archylte Steppe in FFXIII if it was random battles? It wouldn't be half as nice.
It's just like how the world map system used in FF1-9 is outdated too. The games were most likely done that way because a wide open world like in FFXII wasn't possible on those consoles. Too bad they decided to make most of XIII linear, that seemed like a step backwards too. Hopefully XIII-2 has more open areas.
Problems with the fanboys who whine about how FF has sucked since the Enix merge is they can't handle the much needed changes to keep up with current technology. It's why SE should never remake FFVII. It would suck if they simply redid it the way it is, and if they introduced roaming mobs and open world the haters of recent games would be out in force calling it a flop.
It's not like S-E is able to keep up with the times.
Ghe, he, he.
I know that it does seem outdated compared to FFXII and FFXIII and it hurts the immersion, but try to look at it from a more practical point of view. Those who like grinding will definitely welcome this system because, let's face it, having to change zone back and forth to respawn mobs isn't exactly fun.
Not to mention that with the whole monster capture mechanic capturing them would be a lot more tedious if you didn't have an endless supply of encounters at your disposal.
Anyway I think I read somewhere that there are mobs that appear on the field like adamantoises.
Didn't see anyone else respond to this yet.
I had the same issue and tried pre-ordering again last week to see if I could get release date delivery (without canceling my original order placed in November 2011) and I didn't get the option for it again. I also couldn't update my original pre-order to release day delivery. I was, however, able to get release day delivery for the guide.
When I contacted support, I asked why I couldn't get release day delivery for the game as was advertised (I live in Seattle - never an issue before). They originally told me that it was because they can't guarantee stock until closer to release. I asked them why they are advertising on the page where you add it to your cart if then if they aren't yet offering it. After like 15 minutes of talking to his supervisor, he assured me that his supervisor determined they would automatically upgrade it to release day delivery for me and they weren't sure what the problem was.
I now have release day delivery, but only because I checked back today and still saw Feb 2nd as the estimated delivery date. Instead of going to customer support first, I tried to update the shipping method myself again and it was there this time. I think it's worth the trouble of contacting support again because you get it on release with free shipping.
They should have begun to move the fuck on with FFX at the latest but no, shitguchi had to make a NES game for the PS2 (and later for 360). Actually even during the PSX era the shitty NES systems were already outdated.
Squaresoft is the company stuck in 1980's but S-E is there to be blamed for the aftermath desperately playing the catch up game.
It's subjective, obviously. But games from the Squaresoft era are the only games ever I can play again 5+ times (even to this day) and not get tired of.
Sorry, I thought you were disagreeing with me.
Sort of, simply stating why Squaresoft to me was superior. Even if they seemed outdated to you.
Well if you want to disagree you need to have an argument. There's no "seems" here, their games were outdated and you still find them superior. That's fine. Most people do.
They're still behind the curve though, but at least now I can see some effort to change that trend.
That's my point though. It doesn't matter if something is outdated if it is enjoyable to play. I'd take that over something that is trying to keep up with the times but isn't fun to play (like FFXIII). I'll never be able to sit through that game a second time and that is what is important to me.
You are stating your opinion and I don't care as I have my own which completely invalidates yours.
Why did you even reply to me. You have nothing more to say. Just because people like shitty games doesn't mean they aren't shitty.
Let me be direct then. Because your original post was asinine because you think Squaresoft is to blame for SE's current state.
