So IGN didn't seem to be very satisfied with "the costly sacrifices to its narrative, lack of closure and gameplay still being too automated." 8/10, glad I'm gameflying.
Is 8/10 really such a bad score? lol Sure seems to me that IGN is satisfied.
For FF standards an 8 is pretty mediocre. Seems they improved the game in just about every area but the story suffers considerably, enough to warrant it less a score than its predecessor.
That's some inflated standards then. The franchise has never been worth more than 8/10, but it's finally getting the kind of scores it has always deserved.
To accept that is the way to actually enjoy playing their games.
The bloggers score was shit, 5.0 just because he didn't like the story? ok lol
IGNs review is pretty fair.
Really with 13 and 13-2, I think SE will find a great medium with XV but its time to move on to that title now since everyone just wants to hate 13. Hopefully that one will not build 4 years of hype.
My local gamestop isn't having a midnight release so I might have to cancel my preorder and settle with standard edition from Walmart. This is bullshit.
You could always...wait till the morning. Is it really that big a deal?
I might cancel my CE preorder and just pick up the standard edition.
After reading lots of reviews/press/JP Amazon I'm starting to doubt if this game is worth $80 :/
I'm sure I'll enjoy the game, but the game+guide (I like Piggyback guides) is over 100.... Thinking regular version and no guide lol
CE game/guide, could give 2 fucks about reviews, I liked the demo so I'm sure i'll enjoy the game well enough too.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture due to the immense crowd of rush hour but on the London Underground there's a massive landscape poster of Lightning!
I thought the tag line was kind of cool:
Beyond Time | Beyond Fate | Beyond Imagination
Since you can't have multiple saves, can you see all the endings in one playthrough? Also, is there any achievement/trophy you can miss and not get later in the game?
There's some endings you can't get until after you beat the ending the first time. It is impossible to miss anything including the achievements with the way they designed the historia crux. You can jump to any point in the game on the fly. Honestly there's no reason for multiple saves the way The game was designed. The dialog choices you make in the game don't really effect the story. But you have the option to go back and play through it again.
And yes you can get all the endings on one save. Infact its required to get all 160 fragments.
Aren't unique monsters missable? Or rather, obtainable only once (think legendary pokemon) so you're stuck with the abilities you gave them without being able to change them later. I think I read something like that on another site. That's something you'd definitely want another save for if it's the case.
IGN's review seems pretty solid but for a game that has a ton of DLC planned for is the lack of a conclusive ending really that big of a deal?
Not saying that it's optimal, but instead of directly criticizing the ending (or lack of thereof) they should have aimed their criticism to the DLC plans.
They reviewed the game that people will be buying soon, not the future plans of said game. If the ending in it's current form lacks much of a conclusion, then they are 100% right to criticize that.
