I couldn't get Kichu for some reason, perhaps didn't set up the weather right. I don't know. I found a chocobo late in the game that rocked Commando pretty well. Think I got it from a chest, not sure where, didn't even notice at first until I went through my pets at some point. Good attack and especially good HP, he had 6k+ hp when he was lv23 lol. Right up there with Noel who had 2 jobs 99 and 3 jobs 50+ lol.

As pointed out, that shit was mostly answered in XIII. So no, XIII-2 doesn't provide any answers for those questions.

Wouldn't really call it a cliffhanger, just room to expand the entire story upon. Wether SE decides to add upon that story in DLC or maybe XIII-3 is up to them, but the ending XIII-2 has on the disc is conclusive.

got to the final boss battle in about 22hrs or so. took maybe an hours worth of detouring opening new areas with wild artefacts.

didnt really have any problems for the first 3 fights.. but because i think im barely leveled in for the fight, i probably wont be able to win without doing the retry -> change paradigm deck thing..

those bosses really require different set ups.

I gave up on the last battle because i wasn't doing enough damage and he kept calling for reinforcements and it was wasting my time. plus it gets progressively harder because of wounding.

that said i breezed through most of the areas.. began to skip a good number of fights in episode 5 and 6.

btw. omg end of episode 5 in

    was like nostalgia fest.

Pulsework Soldier makes a pretty good SEN. i leveled it to cap (lv20 only) HP items and also infused a HP+ monster onto it with Mediguard. nothing was scratching it lol. and it had like 5-6k HP. good stuff, at least where the main game is concerned.

Flanitor isn't a bad MED. the feral link being a healing move is very handy.. no QTE for it either. gets KOed a lot, but definitely hardier than Cait Sith.
I also have a Green Chocobo.. haven't tried leveling that tho..

Gil is a bit of a problem for me, but i hope doing more sidequests will help with that.

You did that rather quick lol. What levels were your characters? Last battle(s) can be a drag when a bit underleveled, it's why I just grinded a few hours to make it easier on myself, still that final fight took me 30mins because I thought I could beat it, but as you said, didn't have the best paradigms for it, but didn't want to do retry XD

noel was 99 com and sen, and like 50ish med. i didnt level RAV or unlock the other 2 for him. has ATB skill.
serah 99 rav, and like 50ish on a bunch of other classes. also has her ATB skill.
    both have 100 accessory points.

    Spoiler: show

half glad that poison isn't as effective versus the final bosses in XIII-2 as XIII. but that said.. dealing with Caius regen is a bitch. good thing the jet bahamut doesn't have any regen crap.. but the resummoning thing is annoying, especially since the other 2 bahamuts will still take a bit of time to kill. that to me is a speed/damage issue.. so I'll need to grind a little bit.

i typically breeze thru FFs cos I play them from the time i wake till the time i go to bed lol. i took leave from work today just to play. that said, thankfully XIII-2 is kinda compartmentalized into many miniquests and areas so you don't have to spend too much time in 1 sitting.

In fact I really think XIII-2 is awesome because you can tell its been well designed for the busy-life gamer in mind. theres no real dungeon crawling - areas are small to moderate size.. ok maybe augusta tower is a little annoying. and even the way the Historia Crux and auto-saving is designed is meant to save you time.

for example, if you go to start menu and choose to return to Historia Crux, when u choose to come back to the area, you'll resume from where you left the zone. saves a lot of time imo.. and once you've 'cleared' the main story component for the area, it opens up a little more and you get chocobo riding and so on.

I think XIII-2 is probably the best thing to happen to Final Fantasy in a while.

I do like the story, but for me, the gameplay elements really make it outstanding.
It really brings back elements of older-school RPGs into the modern ps3 jrpg (and/or FF) so I love it.

    to list em..
    I like
the progressive advancement of story which gives you freedom to branch out but remains relatively linear if you choose to follow closely.
how going further into the game gives you more reason to go back to older areas - the mog hunter ability is one thing, then theres mog toss, and monster capturing. add to that, wild artefacts for the optional time gates. you feel like theres a lot of exploring that can be done... and not just in the battle to death sense like FFXII was in terms of exploring...

edit: a lot of the gameplay elements have been given thought to. even the jump button has its use. quite a number of platformer elements in the game.

i also like the music a lot. many moving pieces that have grown on me already. i love the piano arpeggio one with the violins.. so dark and dramatic

am thinking because my expectations for XIII-2 was that it'd be on par or only slightly better than XIII but i really enjoy this a whole lot more.

edit 2: lol lots on my mind. XIII-2 doesn't have the visual polish and detailed cutscene directing that XIII had. even if it did, only for a very few number of scenes. a lot are simply just cutscenes of people talking and making minor hand gestures. sometimes its a 'cutscene' in the open field, so random NPCs will walk in on you.. kinda funny.

but it really does make up in terms of gameplay and things you can do...

ok. going to bed. enough from me

You pretty much summed up what I like about the game too lol.

    About the final fight
    Spoiler: show
Yeah, lol fuck Caius' regen. First time I did that fight I was like: "oh man don't do regen again" and he did and I knew I was fucked with my underleveled shit, I spammed so many blood damage potions, trying to keep up and see his bar back at 100%. Was quite happy to annihilate him on the second attempt with higher jobs and no items used lol. Dragons I managed to usually kill before he managed to summon the 3rd. Was still annoying since he seemed set on his pattern of "no you can't do damage to me yet" while he was the only one left at times or fuckin up my stagger at times by moving back.

Edit: Speaking of your in the field cutscenes, one time a NPC walked up to Chocolina in the background and she did her usual handwaving shit while he was there, thought it was quite funny.

To add to the thinks i like. Towns feel very much more alive. Apart from the fact you can talk to some NPCs, they also respond to your actions, like they make comments about you and your Moogle. And when you use mog to uncover a treasure box they'll crowd round you and go wow. That was nicely done IMO

Other things I like, which for some may be pointless, is the "the story so far" cutscenes when you load your save. I think it's pretty useful if you're forgetful lol. Also a great summary. Definitely more effective than the text on the screen in XIII.
And the introduction to each area on the historia crux by that woman who sounds like Fang with no accent.

    GL guys and have fun.

That blows I'm at Walmart and I'm the only person here.

Edit: Home, got my copy. The poster the Wal-Mart version comes with is kinda cool. I'll never hang it up since I actually want to get laid in the future.

Anyway, I'm loving it so far. The beginning scene with Lightning and Caius is pretty epic.

Well just hang the poster in your closet. Unless of course you want to get it on in there as well, then probably not a good idea.

@Skidz: You are so silly bolding those 2 sentences. Silly you.

@Burning Thought: Yeah I saw a Youtube video of someone posting the first 15 minutes of the intro fight and it looked pretty amazing. Have fun!

Actually kind of impressed with Amazon. This is the first time I pre-ordered a game that I actually didn't really care about getting ASAP on release day, so I usually don't do it online so I can make sure I get it promptly. Ordered this yesterday in fact, almost forgot.. wanted to make sure I got Omega (even if its lame). Got an email at midnight that it was shipped already, and its expected to be same-day delivery later in the day. $Shipping was 0.99.

Omega fight is cool and as a pet he's one of the best in the game. So don't worry about that.
