Don't play the game if it sounds that horrible. From the looks of it, this might be the best ff since 7 but it wont be recognized as such because of dumb motherfuckers like you.
I could name a couple of rpgs that have 1 playable charater, but I'm not going to cause you're fuckinglasdjkfhqwuietgq;weifugqwef UGH fuck you.

There are plenty of great RPGs with only one playable character (Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, even Skyrim) so I don't consider the quality of a RPG tied to that aspect.

I could understand that being an issue if the plot didn't either feature other important characters or if the battle system had strong limitations.
Neither is the case for FFXIII-2 so there shouldn't be any reason to worry about it.

The game has already exceeded my expectations and I wasn't very fond of XIII.

Hurr. The single playable character RPGs don't really apply to this situation. I understand his gripe. This is an RPG with 3 character battles, the norm for those is to provide you with options. Please stop comparing that to Skyrim or Vagrant Story or any of those. They have different styles.

Personally, having only 3 characters is not a make or break thing for me. I've liked what I've seen of the game so far.

Style? What style? Who says that there has to be a written rule about the number of characters? And this game does have options, tons of them actually.
Sounds like another "this is FF so it has to do things the FF way" argument that holds no value anymore.

My point was that if a game has a good number of important plot-related characters and you're given enough diversity in battle then it doesn't matter whether you can control 1 or 100 characters, which is why FFXIII-2 can pull that off.

Yeah, got mine a few days before release. Too bad you can't really fight Omega right away. I tried him as I left New Bodhum and got two-shotted right off the bat... ;[

I got my Omega + first $10 code on Monday, but had to contact them to get the other $10 since I pre-ordered.

Does anyone have the collector's edition guide and do you feel it's worth getting?

Maybe try reading what I'm saying before throwing out dumb arguments such as "FF for FF's sake" and whatnot. I didn't say anything was wrong with it. I simply said you can't compare party battle RPGs (FF, Chrono, Legend of dragoon, Xenogears, etc) to single character RPGs (Vagrant Story, Skyrim, Parasite eve, etc). Generally the first group comes with varieties of characters because its a party system. I have no problem with what FFXIII-2 is doing with its 3 characters. If it works for the story, then it works for me. My point was that the two types of games are incomparable and it's stupid to say a limited party is fine JUST because it works in single character games.

I usually only end up liking 3 characters in a RPG anyway. I like Serah a lot and Noel enough to make this game amazing. I could have done without the monster part, but I can see how a lot of people would enjoy it.

Once again there is no argument. You are just speaking out of your ass. "You can't compare these two", why the hell can we not compare them? Because you say so? Great..

Got it today, together with my Crystal Edition (man that box is huge) and pre-order bonus pack O//
It's actually still sealed atm, but I only bought it because I liked the quality of the XIII collector's guide. So if you have seen that one, you know what to expect. The hardcover is actually padded (am I wording this properly?) While the cover of the XIII CE guide was a hard cardboard cover, this you can squish a little like you can with photobook covers. It also has a 16 page section with the devs about the story that isn't in the normal guide afaik.

As it was mentioned before, it is pretty meh that the concept art booklet is stapled right into the middle of the disc/soundtrack box... ;/

Also, the art booklet itself is incredibly short... There's more artwork in the back of the XIV CE journal.

So I had to hold off buying the game cause I knew if I stepped into gamestop I would convince myself to buy a ps2, kh and ff10, along with 13-2 -_-.
    Anyways...
1.I didn't think Noel was going to grow on me but he did.
2.I'm glad this game is somewhat more challenging in every aspect from 13.
3.I absolutely love Chocolina and the Moggle.

Anyone suggest a good Ravager pet to level up? I am usually Rav/Com/Rav and would like to get a better Ravager pet than my Gremlin.

Apparently Blue Chocobo is one of the best. I'm lvling it currently but it takes shitload of work, it's 46 and still way worse than my lvl 40 droid.

Blue chocobo is good but more of an endgame option due to cost to level. It really depends what you value for RaV cos imp types are pretty good but their HP is pathetic
