Looks pretty rough from above.
Noel says "a future where everyone lives" in the trailer so the absence of the original party except Lightning might have to do with it.
Looks like the linearity is completely gone too.
Trailer looks pretty impressive, this has the potential of being the best RPG of 2012.
Fang and Vanille are "dead." Sazh is probably living with his kid, not wanting to fight anymore. Lightning is straight-up missing. Snow probably didn't want Serah to look for her (dangerous) and went alone like an hero. Hope is probably living with his dad.
Keep in mind that all these characters lost their l'Cie abilities (magic).
If they don't start popping up in spoilers/teasers/etc. soon, they're just going to be like the Wakka/Lulu of FFX-2. If they do show up, I'm hoping it's like Serah has to go and "round up the old cast" to go find their buddy Lightning.
Anyone notice "climate type: *rain symbol*" on the map screen?
Yay weather system!
This game keeps looking better and better.
Edit: also notice the map completion %, kinda like FFIV DS.
Whenever monsters suddenly materialize, the Mog Clock appears and progresses through the following indicators:
-Green: Enemy is immobile and vulnerable.
-Yellow: Enemy is moving and ready for battle.
-Time's Up: Enemy is fully alert and battle begins.
Approach the enemy and press (X) to attack before times runs out. You will enter battle with different conditions depending on the progression of the Mog Clock:
Successful attack: Begin battle with bonuses.
Come into contact with enemy: Begin standard battle.
Time runs out: Begin battle with penalties.Temporal Rift:
The voids between the timelines harbor extra dimensional spaces known as Temporal Rifts. To escape a Temporal Rift, you must undergo the trial set forth by the crystals.
This particular rift features disappearing tiles. Any tile you pass over will fade into nothingness, so think carefully about the route you must take to collect all the crystals before reaching the exit portal!
OK, this game definitely got some tweaks for the better. Too bad there still are battle screen transitions.
You can actually talk to NPCs! Wee!
It looks like you earn/capture monsters when you win battles and can summon them by choosing certain Paradigms. At the end of a battle with a Feral Behemoth and some puddings, the scene showed a crystal floating up and listen two crystals under loot. The next fight, he summoned a Warhorn (behemoth mob) when he chose the Cerberus paradigm...
One thing I'm worried about is the party roster.
The idea of taming monsters is cool and all but what about Lightning and the old cast?
Notice that when she's fighting with Odin she doesn't even have a paradigm role.
That might mean two things:
1)She's a temporary character who we get to control very few times in the game (bad)
2)Summons last indefinitely (good)
Friend sent me this vid link on msn. Looks like someone already extracted the 2nd part of the website theme. Which is my favorite song from the trailer, and I've been listening to it on repeat lol.
Getting pretty excited for this game the more I hear and see.
There is a theory about the Moogle being a playable party member, more specifically he being the one who turns into monsters during battles (notice that the monster that fights Serah and Noel varies with the current paradigm role).
In fact, Noel and Serah didn't have a monster pet in the trailer until Moogle and Alyssa showed up.
That would explain why the Moogle follows you and why it's pom-pom is a crystal.
So I guess that would make him the obligatory "gimmick RPG character". Pretty interesting idea if that's the case.
Violins in exciting music give me a musical boner.
Loving this remix, and everything else I see too.
But wtf, easy mode for XIII, seriously? And here I was excited the first time I saw the word update for XIII.
niceeeeeee
Already loving Mog.
Spoiler for huge
Spoiler: show
who else thinks noel's name is drenched in biblical reference? Noel? Kreiss (Christ)? srsly?
Weren't Lightning and Purple haired guy compared to the "angel and devil"?
FF games are notorious for having tons of religion and myth-based references so I wouldn't be surprised about that.
It's looking like purple haired antagonist is alternate-timeline Noel... This is all sounding very Wings of the Goddess.
But it's not an alternate-timeline, but only a different dimension where the goddess is supposed to reside I think?
Battle looked very very similar from those gameplay videos. ;/
man these trailers always make the game look awesome but usually all we get is disappointment, least i got a new wall paper out of it
Spoiler: show
