We need that fluidity in 14! :<
I didn't even notice the background of that lightning pic til now....actual buildings that look like modern day? hmm....could get very interesting. I'm curious as to how Lightning is "Dead" though....possibly she DID die, and this is somewhat of a farplane type thing, except actually existing? speculations.....
More videos:
Party leader dies = game over is still there and it seems like Mog is really the third party member with the ability of transforming into monsters.
And maybe Snow is really dead lol, the dialogue in the first video seems to imply something like that (or maybe it's just talking about Lightning's absence who knows).
I'm going to be really disappointed if Lightning isn't actually playable. She was a cool character.
Regarding Lightning, someone posted this half a year ago but it's worth reposting:

This translation (very good, mind you) of the Epilogue Novel of the game that was bundled with 360's first prints of the game kinda explains it. It also addresses other characters.
As it stands this is how it might go:
Fang and Vanille are communicating for sure, but the main chars don't know it. Lightning keeps wanting to rescue them.
Sazh will eventually be your FF7 Cid of the game. He volunteered to help the army to transport people from Cocoon to Pulse. So for most part he's probably AFK from the game until later, which *ZING* you get your airship to explore Gran Pulse.
Hope follows Sazh back to Cocoon to try and find his father (I skimmed his chapter but it seems he's safe but still on Cocoon)
Lightning disappeared literally, as if running away. She feels she must continue fighting and protecting.
Serah wants to become a teacher. Snow said he'll build her a school. Perhaps he went away to collect materials? >_>; - explaining the disappearance lol
The last chapter ends with Lightning ending up randomly in "Abyssea"/"Promyvion - Gran Pulse"/"Dynamis"
She looks to be playable in some way or another but the thing is anticipating how. It's quite likely we'll experience some FF8ing here swapping between 2 parties of different experience/time but in this case Lightning's would be a bit more supernatural than the outside counterparts. Or would it become a section only ala Beatrix (FF9)? We'll never know. Plus that mysterious evil dude in the other world.A dark sea spread out before her.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgOr more, it was like a sea. The rolling black waves were soundless, and had no smell of salt. It was as though a deep darkness undulated through the night. It was nothing like her own sea.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgNot just the sea. This place was like nothing she had ever seen. There were things, perhaps monsters, in the distance. But no plants, no animals. She felt no life here.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgThere was no sound, no color. Whether this was simply silence and darkness, or her own five senses failing her, she didn’t know.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgTime itself seemed to have become hazy. It felt as though months and years were passing, and yet all in an instant. As if she were experience forever and a single moment all at once.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgOh, perhaps that’s why.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgSlowly, slowly she had accepted this place for what it was. This was no place she could fight. A world with nothing, and... everything. To put it into human words... nothingness and chaos.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgBut still she walked forward. Perhaps, because she still had something to look for.
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpg“Where? Where am I trying to go?”
http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...issar/bar2.jpgThere was no answer. Only the stillness, at once a moment and forever, swallowed her voice.
EDIT: Plugging in to the FFXI gag ... and in relation to the realistic looking buildings, she's in LIMBO!
*Inception reference
Guess you can still only control the party leader
So finally it's the same game exept different character and storyline, one of the possible reason why it's coming out so fast
With Mog being confirmed as a playable character I'm pretty sure there will be others except he has a nice gimmick. He's actually going to be interesting, especially his Crystarium.
Can you switch control of character midfight or not though? <.<
15 minute gameplay video
@ 7:40 a NPC says that 5 years have passed since the Purge, which means Hope is going to be 19.
Quick check your totem!
uh.. did the moogle transform into a bow?
Yep the Moogle happens to be Serah's weapon.
Now I wonder where those tamed monsters come from... part 2 of the video should answer that.
There's definitely something different about the magic-casting effect, I guess it's some alternative to being a l'cie? Something to do with mana drive maybe?
got a headache from watching that video.. the camerawork towards the end omg
Am I the only one who hated the nerds QQing the entire video. Ruined watching it. Who would actually want the stress/chaos of controlling all three characters at once in 13 gameplay?
Sounds pretty good so far. It also -looks- good, although I'm sure I'll see jaggies eventually (not SE's fault - consoles just aren't that powerful anymore).
I already see the jaggies.. but my tv is full HD and its still not that bad...
I noticed they're making a move towards a different kind of interactive cinematic battles by having players push buttons and whatnot specific to the situation, meaning that battles no longer necessarily only take the classic jrpg format..
ou can also tell they've polished the visual style even more. I love the water on the lens rain effect
"BRANCHING PATH, THIS IS A FINAL FANTASY FIRST GUYS"
"JUST AUTO-ATTACK TO WIN"
"WHY WON'T YOU STAGGER??"
It was much better when I watched it the first time without sound. One thing they DID suggest that was interesting was the purpose of that new icon with the sword in it. I imagine this is one of those 'unlocked later on' features, but maybe it actually is something to do with switching between weapon types or something?
