I'm speaking of FFVII only. FFVIIIs were indeed QTE. Also, who the fuck used GFs?

Most of my GF usage came from throwing one down if I needed to survive a boss attack and then the GF summoning because it survived. I usually said to hell with boosting though, it was annoying.

I don't want to play PS2 games using a mechanic that makes it feel like an SNES game. This is why QTEs going forward are less and less tolerable.

I agree, it's getting more and more intrusive in the franchise and feeling more and more like a default "let's add interactivity" cop-out.

I think it should be kept to a minimum in one-off fun little events during the storyline and mostly off the beaten path in mini-games/side-quests.

Dont think its been mentioned, but would FF12's Quickenings be considered QTEs? I played 12 on an emulator on a subpar laptop and i hated the slowdown it caused everytime

I think that might be because that's the actual model and texture that's on Atlas when you fight him (doesn't need a ton of detail). Apparently they didn't bother to slap a high-res skin on it for that little scene when it's not moving and just a part of the scenery.
