I'm hoping one of the areas we go back to is Taejin's tower, would be interesting to find out more about it and why it was there, as well as what's down that huge hole below it and why there was a fal'cie guarding it for no apparent reason. Considering how tall it was originally, it seems like it might've been something used to get to Cocoon.. or something?

Also, apparently the TGS trailer is going to be released on the 15th September.

Also, what's with the graphics, weird lightning (lolpun) and almost looks like cel-shaded

Firstly, it's Japan. A teenager without angst is like an ocean without fish. Also, it's some what understandable, it's not like the angst is coming from no where, since anyone who's played XIII has a good idea why Serah would be like that.

But it's silly and childish. Basically the 'believe in your heart' kind of bs told in a serious tone (that makes it even worse) you'd expect and what I could do without.

It's silly in delivery for the most part, but the theme/idea is something we all go through during tough times (more or less). Some people focus on it more than others, but what people do to cope with stress and shit is what makes them interesting to watch.

Out of context (like a trailer) it can seem cheesy, but usually when I come across those scenes in the course of the game, I totally buy them (unless it's like Tidus and Yuna).

That is usually a sign that that person will turn into a enemy at some point. Just SE adding a potential friend turns foe moment to get people curious and maybe drawn into the story more.
