For those who enjoy mini-games and theme parks in RPGs:
http://www.novacrystallis.com/?p=1612As a part of Sony’s Tokyo Game Show Play Live series, FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase had a few moments to share some new details.
Much like the Gold Saucer in FINAL FANTASY VII, you’ll be able to enter an amusement part of sorts. Inside will be a casino with slots, chocobo racing, and a great number of mini-games.
The story of XIII-2 will be broken up into six chapters.
As for DLC, it will be released sometime after the game proper, and will include items such as new costumes, weapons, and added monsters.
Only 6 chapters? Sounds like the game will be shorter than XIII unless each chapter is really long.
They did said the main story is shorter than XIII, but the extra stuff makes it longer.
The original Andriasang link is gone, so this is from a psxextreme.com article from January 2010. FF13 was not due in NA and PAL for another two months:
I thought everyone already knew about this content. Most of this game is going to be crap they couldn't put into the original during the last push to meet their final 12/2009 JP launch deadline. In before zoos showcase your captured monsters. We're assuming the direct source is Famitsu although that part isn't quite clear. Anyway, in the interview with FFXIII art director Isamu Kamikokuryou, we learn that many areas and environments originally set to be included in the game didn't make the final cut. And if his estimations are accurate, enough was removed from the game to make a whole new additional adventure...which sounds like a ton of content when you're talking about an epic RPG like FF. The design team wanted to include a full area around Lightning's home, for instance, and there's also mention of a secret base for resistance group Nora inside a shop, and an amusement park called Nautiuls Park once boasted a whole zoo. Now, here's the part that may raise the ire of a PS3 owner: at first, all of this was supposedly running on the PS3 hardware but ultimately, it was "left out due to considerations for game volume and overall game balance."
But they actually said otherwise, they're only using some of the stuff that didn't make it, but scrapping the rest.
Also, the whole thing with not used content was blown out of the water. Almost all games has tons of stuff that never make it to the final version,
Nautilus IS an amusement park. You just can't enter any attraction there.
Oh, I was under the idea that they were fine for the launch, until they had to put in on the Xbox, and THEN they had to slowly strip content down to make it fit!I thought everyone already knew about this content. Most of this game is going to be crap they couldn't put into the original during the last push to meet their final 12/2009 JP launch deadline. In before zoos showcase your captured monsters.
And I was under the idea that people are full of shit.
Sure enough, whenever you come to a new area in the game it shall be "reused from XIII". Just because someone said something vague somewhere which was translated and interpreted loosely and then shifted over time to mean something completely different.
Also if the DLC is bad/too expensive/lacking in content, Tanaka must have been involved. That damn old geezer is everywhere.
Anyway, XIII was one of the few games where I didn't mind the English dubs. I'd rather have the English VA than the JP original tbh. I hope they can keep similar level of quality this time.
Here's a comparison
On that topic: Vanille's VA posted on her tweeter that, while she can't really talk about anything, voicing for XIII-2 was quite a different experience. Wonder what that means for Vanille D;
Btw. Japan already getting extra stuff![]()
Yakusoku no Basho will be available from 11/23 and contain a code to unlock a bonus item in the game.
Who needs an Army of One when you have an Army of Odins:
I really hope they're not six chapters of XIII's length tbh. I'm all for side content but I do hope the story is a good sized epic like I've become used to.
Looking forward to this more and more, either way.
Six chapters can mean alot of things, especially since each area leads to different time periods stuff to do there has potential to be very expansive.
Yeah, kind of disappointing. Oh well. I guess it can be comparable to FFX-2 (FFX-2 was really short in terms of actual important storyline stuff rather than "filler" but the game still lasted long [also new game + ftw]).
In terms of characters - I hope they have some sort of new game + where you get to play with/use the original 6 from FFXIII. .I know they said they won't but they did say an alternative. Hopefully they'll just do new game + where you keep all you items and stuff like FFX-2.
Also didn't FFX-2 have something like that in its international version where you can use some older characters or was that just for some mini game in FFX-2 int?
Finally hopefully the game does feature some battle dialogue... it's awfully quiet when they don't talk[also no, rap being in the background does not make up for lack of battle dialogue >.>].
rap or shitty british pop singer moaning in the back ground i want kicking basses BACK TO ROCK OUT SQUARE ENIX! btw whats an Enix? >.>
?
Thats Onix
