Specific retailers for the full pre-order bonus pack. I think in the UK www.game.co.uk has the exclusive on the pre-order bonus pack. Other retailers, like Amazon UK you mentioned, only get a part of it or nothing.

Looks like different bonuses from specific retailers. For example at Game.co.uk you will get:

    • FINAL FANTASY XIII -Episode i-. This novella explores the events taking place between FINAL FANTASY XIII and FINAL FANTASY XIII-2. Witness the untold story!
    • DLC content; Alternate costume for Serah and Noel
    • DLC Content; Monster battle: defeat Omega, the famous FINAL FANTASY boss monster, and then have it join your party as you continue on your adventure.

    And at Webhallen.com:

    • DLC content; Alternate costume for Serah and Noel
    • DLC content; Unique Weapon for Noel
    • DLC Content; Monster battle: defeat Omega, the famous FINAL FANTASY boss monster, and then have it join your party as you continue on your adventure.

You might be able to get away with downloading someone else's completed save and using that (assuming the clear save bonus doesn't check if the save belongs on the system or not). Try gamefaqs.

FFXIII saves are semi-protected apparently. You can load it but you can't save normally.

That time travel system, as previously detailed, only includes time periods after the events of Final Fantasy XIII, so don't expect to relive your favorite moments from the original. There's apparently a story-based reason for this. The time traveling was triggered when the "catastrophe" at the end of FFXIII messed up the space time continuum. One of the base components of the story is the "time paradoxes" the characters are involved in as they travel through time.
Interesting. Well this makes things less complicated IMO. Well that is assuming that the "catastrophe" occurred in the FFXIII we played and not some alternative time line where Cocoon was destroyed (inb4 it's <insert game/show with similar plot where the timeline players/viewers know is really the fake or alternative one> all over again).

I do know Noel comes from a timeline where Cocoon was destroyed but if there was originally only one timeline, is the FFXIII (we played) the original or the alternative?

I dislike stuff like this because I feel it's kind of a cheap way to make everything darker (oh noes. It turns out our version of reality and/or timeline is fake and the real reality/timeline is the one where everything went wrong!) also it's crops up in every other story that involves time travel so it's getting old >.>.

Image scans of a magazine with info on FFXIII-2's beginning parts/story.

There will be some spoilers (though if it helps, it's mostly stuff we already know and just the beginning part of the game):

    First page

    Second page.

Overall it seems like they're just throwing you into the game with just a vague idea of what's going on (responding to the whole FFXIII being a long tutorial criticism I assume). I'm sure everything will be explained later in the game.

Pictures of 2 Serah's costume designs, there will be a vote to decide which one will be used as DLC:

That's because Sweden works differently (webhallen.com is Swedish). Most all stores in Sweden has all the preorder bonuses. I don't think I've ever seen a "preorder exclusive" from different stores in Sweden. Here's from the Swedish Game, for example:

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Nordic Edition (PS3)

    A Copy of the game.
Alternate Costumes for Serah and Noel.
A Unique Noel Exclusive Weapon with it’s own effects and special look.
The famous Final Fantasy monster Omega, who you can face off against in a recruitable monster battle. Win and he’ll join your party.

    Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collector's Edition (PS3)

Composer Selected Soundtrack: CD with selection of music tracks from the game, specially chosen by the composers.
Artwork book “The Art of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2”, featuring artwork across the production.
6 collectible postcards, featuring high quality CG artwork of main characters in the game.
High Definition Lenticular Artprint, showing an iconic image of the Lightning character.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Crystal Edition (PS3)

Composer Selected Soundtrack: CD with selection of music tracks from the game, specially chosen by the composers.
Artwork book “The Art of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2”, featuring artwork across the production.
6 collectible postcards, featuring high quality CG artwork of main characters in the game.
High Definition Lenticular Artprint, showing an iconic image of the Lightning character.
4-Disc FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 Original Soundtrack, with premium digipak packaging.
Exclusive FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 T-Shirt from the SQUARE ENIX PRODUCTS range. Never to be available elsewhere!
Artwork book “The Art of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2”, featuring artwork across the production.
The Crystal and Collector's Edition doesn't give any information whether or not they include the DLC bonuses, but I assume they do.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution also have the "Nordic" edition that included all of the DLC bonuses that were spread out across various retailers in both UK and US. Most games, even if they don't say "Nordic Edition", still includes all of the DLC bonuses in their Limited Edition release wherever you buy them. I assume the same applies to Norway, Denmark and Finland since they're "Nordic" countries too. But I can't be sure, since I've never actually checked.

I suspect it might be because we have some law or something that prohibits retailers from getting exclusive content. Don't know; haven't looked it up, but I suspect there's some reason to us getting a "Nordic" edition of games. The Nordic edition of Human Revolution had its own packing and included both the "Explosive Mission Pack" and the "Tactical Enhancement" pack. The exception I've seen is, for example, on Assassin's Creed, where they had either the "White Box" that included one DLC mission, or the "Black Box" that included the other DLC mission. But those two boxes were offered in all stores.

Dunno if old or not, but some new off-screen gameplay of Sunleth, along with Snow in there as well, and can see Chocolina in 2nd vid.

Snow 300 years in the future?
Either he got crystallized or he can travel in the future as well.
With Hope being involved in the time traveling aspect it's still not out of the question that they could be playable later in the game.

Doubt they will become playable as snow show no stats or anything like that, and the focus will revolve to much around noel serah and monster pet.

WHY.gif are they always playing as noel when serah is far more superior. Whats up with the levels? Serahs 40 something while noel is like 25, maybe this means instead of just going for stats like in XIII you get role levels which gives stats based on level and role. Thanks for giving me my fix though.

Well I like how you can have 3 party members + guest like in FFXII.

As for 300 years with Snow in it? Hmm really strange stuff indeed.

I'm somewhat disappointed by the fact there is only future traveling but on the plus side it at least it makes things less complicated if you can't mess up the past. I mean it would have been interesting if you could go to the past when Vanille + Fang were chosen to be Ragnarok for Pulse.

Hmm they could do that sequence as a flashback or something. A lot of things in FFXIII should get expanded on IMO.

We know you're hungry to see more of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, so today we're releasing a new batch of screenshots. These screens show off the improved Crystarium system. Here you can see the growth route of your characters and, using points gained in battle, improve your stats and gain new abilities.

We've also got a couple of shots from the game's cutscenes. What does fate have in store for Lightning and Serah and why is Caius, who used to be Noel's friend and mentor, fighting against him now?

You may also notice a screenshot taken from a battle, in which a Flanbanero is decked out in sunglasses. This is just one of the many monster adornments which you can find and equip your monsters with. They don't improve your monsters' stats or abilities, but they can make them look a lot cooler in battle.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below. We'll be showing you much more of the game as we approach the European release in February.

Don't think that will happen. They've said again and again that the furthest you can travel to the past is to right where FFXIII ended.

Edit: Looking good so far. Allowing you to choose whether you want Extra Accessory, increased ATB, new role unlocking or improved current roles seems awesome.

Interesting stuff about level up bonuses. Wonder if we'll end up with all at the end or actually have to choose.

Hmm, Behemoth listed in their party members in one of those screenshots. >.> I knew there were going to be monsters taking up the third party slot, but wasn't expecting stuff like that.

Really glad about the new crystallarium, hopefully from the start you can choose which roles you want noel or sarah to get, it look like as you get farther you have to get x role for x character before you get the others. Still it looks a lot freer and more traditional to the job system.

Probably both noel and serah will end up with every role bonus and roles with differences in stats and different moves. Monsters will be limited in roles.
