I'm debating whether I want to do a run of 13 again until this comes out. I maxed out most characters/got 4 of the ultimate weapons. I know some people gave the story/linear approach of the game some hate, but it was definitely my favorite FF game (granted, not an avid FFer). I loved the storyline to bits--thought it was mature and complex.

IMO: Don't. FFXIII is a really long grind, and XIII-2 isn't as bad, but there are some pretty long dungeons. The battle system isn't different enough to keep you from burning out. If you want my advice, go catch up on the story/prologues on some wiki and wait to play until XIII-2 comes out.

I gave a quick read on various boards (stay away from GFAQs as it's riddled with spoilers without warning) and it seems that other than the improvements we already know, FFXIII-2 is getting a lot of praise for not taking itself as seriously as the last FFs did, with lots of humor here and there while having (for FF standards) a solid plot.
As expected, the most criticized feature is the small playable cast not including monsters, though it's not a real flaw but just something that doesn't feel very FF-ish.

Yeah first they ruined the Chocobo Atmosphere and now the Cast Variety Feeling of FF-ness.

I find it mildly humorous that some people are "surprised" that XIII-2 turned out to be good "after all". It's like a silly game between the fanboys and SE, first feelings are negative, then cautiously optimistic (it's important to state this at least twice) and yet in the end all of these people cave in anyway. And those who don't use shitty excuses like crazy chocobo to justify their retarded decision not to buy an entertaining game.

My exact reasoning for wanting to play 11 again -- if I don't play it now, I'll probably never play it again. I got into "JRPG" mode after FF11, so I went and grabbed Lost Odyssey because I heart the story (through disc 1 at least) was superb...got the game, opening intro, i was like ...naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

I have a pronounced inability to play old games. I can acknowledge that they were game-changers/defined the genre, like FF7, but I can't for the life of me sit down and play it because: A) the dialogue is usually childish, B) the graphics are unbearable.

I started replaying FFXIII for Treasure Hunter/platinum before XIII-2 comes out and I definitely don't regret it. But I grinded mission 7 to farm for 3x Sprint Shoes, I'm 5-starring every boss and mission, etc. Some things you just can't help but grind, lol. It's a lot easier this time around because, a. Hope and Snow are easier to stomach early on when you know the whole story, b. I know what I'm doing gameplay-wise (saving CP, proper weapon/acc upgrades, etc.), and c. the last time I played through it, I didn't have HDMI, and now I do, and the game is gorgeous.

Square Enix Shows Pink Serah Bikini Download Content at Jump

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is already out, so we weren't expecting any new info on the game at Jump Festa. But it appears that Square Enix did show images of the latest download content for the game.

Final Fantasy Reunion writes at Twitter that the Square Enix booth showed a pink bikini-like outfit as download content for Serah. The costume was extremely showy but cute.

Unfortunately, FF Reunion did not provide a pic.

There is still a reason to replay FFXIII after FFXIII-2 - for the story again. Also summons (so far I haven't seen anything summon related) too is a plus. Finally it's always fun to play with Vanille + Hecatoncheir (because she's my favorite character ever! It's not because of Gaian Salvo, really >.>).

It's not really a grind until Gran Pulse anyway (though the battles can get long sometimes even before Gran Pulse).

If only they released an update or DLC that added new game+ and/or easy mode (they added easy mode for the PS3 JP version [JP 360 already has it] but sadly only for JP version ) to FFXIII. Now I know there is youtube but sometimes I just want to replay the game for cutscenes, etc on my TV + I want to listen to the field dialogue sometimes.

I want to plow through the game with little effort just to rewatch the cutscenes or so.

Anyway they're releasing Lightning as DLC for the Feral Link system according to Jump Festa. Not bad but hopefully they'll release full characters as DLC that you can use (play as in the leader slot).

Regarding XXIII-2, someone asked if party members from FFXIII be made playable through download content? Kitase said they're looking into this. They'd like to do what fans want. They'll be actively sharing DLC details post release. XIII-2 sees release on the 15th.

I wonder if that means they're looking into making them playable as in you can set them as the leader or if they really meant the Feral Link system. While they are planning to release Lightning integrated into the Feral Link system, hopefully they'll release all the characters later as regular characters you can set as leader too.

I think I read on Andriasang that they mentioned about the possibility of releasing a side chapter with Sazh in it, though they didn't mention whether he would be playable or not.
