What the hell, I meant to type Noel. Cool, that's the only costume I'm looking forward to.
Best. Final. Fantasy. Ever.
So glad I have this preordered.
No.....
This is looking like FFX all over, It's clearly a copy of such formula. Except, Otherworld was actually good. What the hell is this shit!?
A bit confused why the ending sucks? Because it implies there's a sequel?
We'll see how I feel about that at the end of -2, right now a trilogy sounds great until they should change things up a bit.
If "it's confusing" was supposed to be some sort of justification I don't think I understand that either. The whole franchise probably has less endings which make sense than endings that don't. Hopefully this isn't some "it's XIII b'awwww" bs.
I think my expectations were for closure and a lot of fan service from old cast members, while going on a brand new adventure. FFXIII-2 pretty much shat all over those expectations. If I knew ahead of time that they were planning another game after XIII-2 then I wouldn't have been disappointed at the end. All of the interviews talk about stuff that hardly relates to the game once you've completed it.
That being said I'm more excited and hyped to play it just because I want to figure out what is going on, and what might happen in the next game. The gameplay looks solid and it looks like the addressed a lot of concerns people had about the original game. I was a little disappointed to find out that Xanadu (Gold Saucer 2.0) only had two different games to play (Chocobo Racing and Slots), but other than that everything looks pretty awesome.
I definitely would like them do a trilogy. There's so much more to explore in the world of FFXIII.
Though take note they did say they'll do scenarios through DLC too so we may get the ending in DLC form rather than in FFXIII-3.
I definitely would prefer an FFXIII-3 over DLC (unless the DLC that is equivalent to 40-50+ hours of gameplay + features the ability to use 3 characters + with summons and more customization options). I feel like anything less than 10 hours may feel too rushed to resolve everything in FFXIII.
Plus they said they wanted to save Vanille + Fang and have a world where everyone lives! (At least Lightning said so in Episode i and Hope too in one of the trailers.) Do it SE (though do it before resolving the entire story/defeating the last villain of FFXIII. I want Vanille to be in my party).
Agreed + they could still work on FFXV at the same time too. Do they have any spare members left to work on another project? What is the FFXII team doing now?
I haven't watched the ending yet for obvious spoiler reasons, but if its one of those open-ended epilogues that hint to a sequel - are you really surprised about that?
FFXIII-3's website was registred before the game was even out so that was a dead giveaway.
Yeah but SE later said this:
Of course they didn't deny it + it could be SE just trying to confuse people/not spoil people. Though, again, they did say they'll do scenarios through DLC which may resolve the game.In the latest installment of the weekly Square Enix Channel radio broadcast, Square Enix public relations agent Akio Ofuji explained that the name was just taken as a precaution by the company's US office.
The reason the name was suddenly brought in this installment of the radio broadcast is that one of the show's hostesses, voice actress Asuka Nishi, had apparently been asked by Square Enix to help promote XIII-2, and she decided to do so by contacting Ofuji, who was on business in France at the time. She pleaded with him to let her have a voice role in XIII-3, which she said she'd heard about on the internet.
Ofuji's response was that he himself had first heard about the domain name on the internet. The name was registered by the US office without knowledge of Square Enix Japan.
At this point it's anyone's guess. We'll see whether they reveal it after overseas release.
I think DLC would be a safer option. I don't want XIII-3 to end up like Kingdom Hearts III. I don't want to wait years and years for the hopeful conclusion.
Yeah companies like to deny everything until proper reveals are done. Bring on the 13-3.
Still somewhat hoping for a FNC plot twist of epic proportions if 13-3 ends up being the last game in that universe that links everything together. M. Night shyamalan to direct the next sequel plz.
Btw about the secret ending you said it reveals caius' intentions, so does that mean it's short/underwhelming as far as the stuff being revealed or something else?
They want FNC to be a 10 year long project. So it's possible that we'll see more. I wouldn't mind a PSP/PSV prequel of Lightning in her Guardian Corps days. I wouldn't mind seeing more of pre-crystallized Cocoon period. I'm replaying through XIII right now and the towns and the environments look fucking awesome. I'd like to see it in a more open environment.
Oh yeah, it looks like people are trying to make Toriyama'd a thing:
Spoiler: show
The secret ending scene takes place right as Lightning enters Valhalla, its a short 30 second scene of Caius talking to himself/you, revealing his intentions. After that scene you replay the first 10 minutes of the game. The secret ending doesn't really reveal any additional information about the ending. You basically have to get all 160 Fragments to get that scene after the credits, and it's pretty crappy regarding the amount of effort you have to put in to get it. Everyone in the streams were hoping for a completely different ending scene.
The problem with KH3 is no one is working on it atm + they don't have anything built on 7th gen consoles yet (unlike FFXIII with the engine + reusable assets already there).
So I think we'd probably wait at most 2-3 years for FFXIII-3 if they're using same engine.
Though I wouldn't mind if they do an FFXIII-3 on a new engine/next gen consoles for the potential for this to happen again (skip to 3 minutes and 45 seconds):
E3 2015: SE announces FFXIII-3 for the PC as well as Xbox 720 and PS4. Flamewars erupt all over the internet as people claim consoles are dying and that SE are sellouts.
I really wouldn't be surprised if they're working on FFXV for the next gen consoles and keeping a lid on it for now. XIII-2 and the now-inevitable XIII-3 will probably serve as sort-of filler until that comes out being as they're definitely less costly to make (lots of recycled monsters etc) and require a much smaller investment, I imagine XIII-3 will probably cost them even less and require less people being as they've accumulated a lot of assets over the course of the last two games.
I'm looking forward to this story being wrapped up, I think XIII-2 was a pretty justified sequel (although it went in a totally different direction to what I expected) and I reckon a trilogy could be good for the original to make it seem more justified.
One little question to people who followed the stream/understood what was going on:
Spoiler: show
Hah, sorry for the tag fail
Hopefully they would be able to crank it out in less than 2 years. I hope they decide to leave XIII-3 on current gen consoles, and leave the newer consoles for future FNC games, or a new series altogether.
@Vadre I'm not entirely sure, also your spoiler tags aren't working correctly.
Also if you see people saying Xanadu, the localization team named that area Serendipity. Might help avoid some confusion.
Spoiler: show
with regards to possible sequel.. I was more under the impression that a 'To be continued' would imply a critical final chapter in the FFXIII-2 story that would eventually be released as DLC, which would then bring XIII-2 to its resolute ending. I think this because in some ways I'm thinking they wanted to put more time into the final part of the game and also to kinda level the playing field and have it released possibly simultaneously worldwide.
And then in that case registering XIII-3 could be both trolling and anti-cybersquatting at the same time...
After all, there is no precedent for a major FF title on a 7th generation console having DLC. FFXIII ultimately didn't have any although they were planning it. Who knows what they might be up to..
..of course if they decide to milk XIII by having XIII-3, its not like I'd ever mind.. I just hope it has substance and doesn't kill the universe. XIII-2 so far doesn't seem that bad.
