Going to a club tomorrow. Nothing huge just a run down shitty alabama club in birmingham.

Problem I found last time I went to a club (first time ever) when buying drinks I didn't know what to get or what any of the names were. They didn't have like a menu or anything, it sucked.

The only drink I can ever think of is sex on the beach.

What're some drinks that they may have here?

Since it's the south, maybe an Alabama Slammer or Kamikaze shot or even a Red Devil (Combination of A.S with a Kamikaze)

A standard martini is gin and vermouth. A vodka martini replaces the gin with vodka. A dirty martini means there is olive juice added.
There are also variants that use flavored liquors like Absolut Citron.

Depending on the bar/club, you could always ask the bar tender what's good or what he/she recommends. This has led me to many delicious and a couple of free drinks. Although I will say that if the bar is busy (like other people waiting for drinks) the bar tenders usually don't appreciate this. They just want to pump out drinks as fast as they can. More drinks equals more tips. However, if the bar is slow it usually gives the bar tenders a chance to show off a bit or "test" a new drink on an unbiased customer.

Examples of typical drinks in my area (probably everywhere else too) are:

Gin/Tonic
Vodka/Redbull

Amaretto sour, yummy drink. If you want a shot, try bong water. It's like drinking candy. Candy that makes you dizzy.

3 measures high-proof gin, 1 measure high-proof vodka, 1/2 measure lillet blanc, shake well, add lemon peel

Mixed drinks - these take time to make, involving multiple pours and (usually) shaking the ingredients in a tin to mix them before pouring into the glass.

Long Island Iced Tea - Classic, equal parts gin, vodka, rum, and orange liqueur mixed with sweet and sour, and topped with coke...like everyone said, best bang for your buck
Martinis - don't order gin unless you know you like the taste. stick with vodka, this is more of a chill lounge drink that a hype club drink, very strong, pretty much straight liquor in a fancy glass
Margarita - big down south, get it on the rocks, don't waste the bartenders time with a blender drink

Highballs - named for the type of glass commonly used for them, usually a simple liquor-mixer combo poured directly over ice unto the glass - fast and easy

whiskey/coke - common brands include Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Crown, Maker's Mark, Seagram's 7, wild Turkey...stick with house if you don't have a favorite brand
whiskey/seven - mixed with seven-up or sprite instead, see above for brands
rum/coke - Bacardi (regular), Captain Morgan(Spiced), Malibu (Coconut flavored) are found in every bar
gin/juice - don't do this, good gin should be used in a martini, bad gin should be left in the bottle
vodka/juice - do this, vodka doesn't change the taste of the mixer, so it just taste like spiked whatever...common mixers are orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice
vodka/redbull - now very common
scotch/water - for people who know how to appreciate it, basically it's aged whiskey from scotland, more expensive than regular whiskey and more profound taste (not stonger in alcohol %)

Shots - keep these simple, bartenders hate elaborate layered shots with multiple liquors...keep in mind recipes for "common" shots vary by region or even between bars

Jager Bomb - Shot of jagermeister dropped into redbull (Jager tastes like menthol, some people confuse the taste with licorice..to them I say try Sambuca and then get back to me)
Vegas Bomb - Crown whiskey, Butterscotch liquor, redbull
Starfucker - whiskey, watermelon liquor, redbull (as you can see redbull has become very popular in shots)
Kamikaze - Vodka and lime juice, various flavors are made by adding a flavored liqueur...lazy (or busy) bartenders use sweet & sour mixer instead of squeezing fresh limes
Red Headed Slut - Jagermeister, peach liqueur, cranberry juice
Sex with an alligator - slap your friend if he orders this, it's a layered shot made by first mixing melon liqueur with sweet andd sour, "sinking" raspberry liqueur to the bottom, and then "floating" Jager on top. they look pretty, taste great, but are a pain in the ass and waste of time

edit: Oh, and by the way..the Sex On the Beach you already knew about is Vodka, Peach liqueur, Cranberry juice, and Orange Juice.....very tasty, and every guy can secretly love them...but most people will consider this a chick drink.

Make sure you're not getting slipped the bottom shelf shit while paying top shelf as the night goes on. And Long Islands are extremely dependent on how correct it is. Well made = zomg Poorly made = /vomitaru
