lol our neighbors below must hate us, work nights so I am usually up 5PM-10AMish. kinda felt bad after watching Inception at 4AM so I stopped watching movies at that hour. Inception + soundbar = shaky floor
Honestly, people who make a lot of bitching about apartment noise either sleep light as a fucking feather and should have invested in earplugs/sleeping aids... and/or don't understand that neighborly noise is something that simply comes with apartment living. If your neighbors are quiet, you're fucking lucky. If you hear the dude upstairs stomping around and seemingly spilling barrels of bowling balls in each room, that's pretty much par for the course.
Every weekend, I hear the basslines of the dude downtair's shitty music all day. No biggy. Every time the woman upstairs walks in her front door, I hear the th-th-th-thump-th-th-th-thump-th-th-th-thump of her Boston Terrier going apeshit and turbo jamming around the apartment for 20 solid minutes. I hear the footsteps of every person on every metal staircase on the whole building at all times. I hear the flush of every damn toilet in a 100-meter radius because they all have high-pressure industrial tanks that sound like an explosion when you pull the lever.
Local laws tend to dictate this in the US. Where I live now, you can't make excessive noise between 8PM and 7AM or something like that. Since I live in a single-family home in a neighborhood, this is to protect us from the wacky people who like to fire up their leaf blowers at dawn.
To the OP and the other poster asking questions, go to your apartment office and ask for the controlling noise ordinances. If there's a state, or county, or city law, or if the complex itself has a rule on it that all tenants abide by, then that is what controls.
move in with me <3?

And yeah, it's just BS you basically have to put up with, next move, i'm being uber picky, cuz tired of having to live in a bubbleBut can't afford a house!
