This movie was really damn good. I would go see this again. It's really a fucking shame as people are probably looking back at the shitbox Stallone version and not going to see this. I can attest to that shit. A few co-workers said it to me Friday. I tried to argue the point of Batman with them. If the last movie you saw was Batman and Robin, wouldn't you have the same mentality about begins?

This movie is gonna fail financially, and it sucks.

It's going to fail financially because the previews they gave made the movie look like shit.

So should we feel bad because a good movie will not do good, or laugh because at least a few people are getting screwed over by Hollywood's constant lazy rebooting attempts?

$50 for a movie that cost $45 mil not counting advertising? Not a chance that will cause a sequel.

Read this thread from the start for the first time. I have to admit, I was in the "why bother remaking a bad movie" side. Man, were we wrong. This movie was awesome. Definitely will see it again in my lifetime. Some of that slow-motion gore was hard to watch. Made me cringe like I was watching a Saw movie. It was probably the best action movie I saw all summer.

Really wanting to see this movie but friends don't want to see it in 3D and all non 3D showings stop at 4pm...

Hopefully word of mouth can help maintain the movie locally. Thinking of taking the wife to see it next week since we were busy moving all weekend and couldn't get out to see it

I just got back from this. I know bugger all about faithfulness to the original material, but this is a really solidly done film, and way fucking better than the Stallone one.

This is not a reboot of the shitty 90's movie with Stallone, it's been a comic since forever. I saw Dredd yesterday, thought it was good, not amazing. Don't waste money on 3D, not worth it. I love that Karl Urban never takes his helmet off in the entire movie, and wears a grimace 24/7.

    Saw this last night:

Mind fucking blown, it was so good!
GO SEE THE 3D, THEY ACTUALLY DO A GOOD JOB WITH THE 3D STUFFS

I was the guy who was like: this movie is gonna be dog shit, but whatever it's something to do for a few hours

OTW in were like 30 mins early so we sneak into Solmon Kane (which also had potential from the 20ish minutes we watched) and I tried to get my friends to stay in there, but we end up going to watch judge dredd, as originally planned.

It was fucking epic, such a good movie, not over done, like the plot was well written, it wasn't forced. You were never like "Why is this happening". It flowed really well, there was instant like-able-ness to dredd and anderson. The special effects were fucking bad ass, the 3d wasn't stupid and forced.
The violence was actually really fucking awesome. The actors actually moved like trained CQB fighters (close quarters battle) covering one another and range walking etc.

The coup-de-grace was at the end:
*I hit my friend in the leg and we all 3 rise up in our seats and are like:*
    "IS this happening??!"
"Are we really seeing this go down?"
"They're really gonna do this aren't they"

    wait for it....

    "HOLY SHIT THEY DID IT"
    "THEY LITTERLY JUST SHOWED THAT"
    "THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING"
    "AHGLAKSHDGAJGHAJSGHASJDFHAWEAWSOME"

We litterly talked about it for the next 2hrs I can't begin to stress how awesome this turned out, and i pray it get's a sequel with all the same people who made this one possible.

This weekends actuals aren't officially in yet, but so far at ~$20m it's not quite at half it's budget yet.
For the minimum chance of a sequel these days, a film needs to at least make it's whole budget in either foreign or domestic box office. There needs to be a LOT of word

(And after checking, I'm kind of surprised the budget was only $50m. With this, District 9, and from what I saw of Charlie Jade, production value must go a really fucking fooking long way in South Africa.)

In case you're still on the fence, this movie is worth watching. It was between this and looper, and even though looper is apparently one of the best movies this year we saw this instead cause we wanted an easy movie to watch.

The plot isn't over done, the effects (and gore) are amazing. Not once do you think "this is bullshit that'd never happen", even in the context of a sci fi movie like this. Do yourself a favor, this is a solid movie you must see. Remakes of all remakes.

should I go watch this? I couldn't stand the gore in Piranha 3D (wished I had never gone), never seen any saw movies (just not my cup of tea)

Great movie. Don't have to watch it in 3D.
