What should I get? The Alien Anthology Blu Boxset (4 movies, 2 discs of extras, and the nice box set casing) for $39.99 or each individual Alien movie in cheap regular casing for $9.99 a piece but each has a $10 coupon for Prometheus.

Also I haven't seen any of these movies so I wanna watch them all before Prometheus. I just don't know whats the better buy for a collector of blus lol.

1,2,3 are worth watching, 4 is just random as fuck but if you want to watch it then might as well

1 & 2 are brilliant, though in very different ways (ohshitwhatthefucki'mascurrd vs BANG BANG DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE), 3 is a throwback to the claustrophobic horror of 1 but doesn't succeed as well, 4 is a fucking abomination but why the hell not watch it if you're three movies deep

the anthology boxset is good people my roommate has it and as a lifelong Alien fan i found no reason to complain

I watched three a couple years ago and I didn't hate it as much as I remembered. It was nowhere near as good as the first two, but after the fourth one it doesn't seem so bad lol

Also, it's kinda cool seeing it as an early David Fincher movie

Prometheus looks good but who knows what the full movie will be like. If it's better then alien 3 (low bar I know) I'll consider it a good movie in the series.

So in the grand scheme of 1 and 2 being great, 3 being eh and 4 being "Fuuuuuuuck" where does this movie land? Hearing mixed reviews and havnt read/seen any spoilers (even though the fucking trailer basically is a spoiler).

I remember seeing 3 when it came out and wanting to stab the projector guy in the nuts over that movie. 4 was wtf but it didn't leave me raging walking out of the theater like 3 did.

avp was based off of the darkhorse comics, but 4 was it's own thing, with kind of a fucked up story. I enjoyed it more then 3, but I was so angry with 3 that I actually refused to buy the boxset when it came out cause 3 was included in it.

It explains then why it was so god awful. I actually didn't even know it was Joss Whedon who directed it till Nostalgia Critic did a review of it 2-3 weeks ago.

I love Joss Whedon, and he has done a lot of amazing shit, but A4 is probably his worst work. A3 was watchable imo, but not worth buying.
The first 2 are 2 of my favorite movies though.

Joss Whedon didn't direct Alien: Resurrection it was that French fellow who did Amelie, Jeunet(?). Joss wrote the screenplay but rumor is it was altered to the point of being unrecognizable
