3 wasn't quite as bad as people make it out to be, as a stand alone film it was decent. Interesting setting, well developed characters, decent action/horror elements; it wasn't great by any means but it had substance.

The problem was that it had to live up to Alien and Aliens which is a tough act to follow if there ever was one, and in relation to those films 3 was a disaster.

Resurrection was just a terrible movie overall (shallow, ridiculous, nonsensical, downright stupid).

Alien was fucking boss. As stated earlier in this thread... you want Alien vs Marine-shooting action, go with Aliens... you want suspense and horror, watch Alien

Alien was the best sci-fi movie of all-time. Lol @ anyone who thinks it sucked, or even a part of it sucked.

Aliens was my personal favorite :D

Alien 3 was fine, but like other's mentioned it had too much to live up to.

Not as good as I thought it would be. I would rate it after the fourth movie in wtfness. Characters were too contrived, the makeup on Guy Pierce was just awful (the dog stole the first scene he was in), the music was in your face, surprises were telegraphed too in advance, plot made not too much sense (too me). I did miss the first few minutes - Orange Wednesday is a bitch, queues were longer than I expected and that was just to pick up tickets paid for in advance /grumble - so I don't know if anything important happened when that albino guy keeled over into some water, was that important? I also thought I'd walked into the wrong movie screen as I thought that was Voldemort at first and I was trying to comprehend what was going on.

So the film, sequel or no? I would hope that if they did, it has no connection to the original Alien movies as I don't want to tarnish their memory.

I watched it in 2D and as I haven't actually seen a 3D or IMAX film yet, I can only say don't bother, but that's my opinion.

Edited to add: oh, I think I've read that when it's dark in a film that has 3D, it's hard to make stuff out - well about 1/3 or 1/2 the movie is not very well lit, so that might be an issue for some.

This. I was set on watching it in IMAX, but lately I feel like it might not be worth it.

Also, the closest IMAX theatre for me is about an hour away, so that's another factor.

If you have a chance to watch it in IMAX and don't mind spending the extra coin, why would you not watch it in IMAX. I'll watch The Little Mermaid in IMAX if they have it. The theater here has completely spoiled me, it's hard to watch movies on those tiny ass regular screens now.
