I enjoyed the intro of them flying over random valleys and mountains in 3D more than i did the entire rest of the movie.

This was a really weak movie all around.

I am a sci fi genre fanatic and this movie is a huge step above anything that has come out in the last decade in the genre.

How in the fuck can you say this when there are movies like moon, children of men and to a way lesser degree(but way better than prometheus sadly enough) pitch black/donnie darko/primer/district 9/sunshine

Review that made me lol, "Maybe Prometheus is deep, after all, with Weyland Corporation standing in for 20th Century Fox in an allegory for Scott's artistic aspirations: funding and undermining his ambitions at the same time."

*Poor character development
The captains 2 friends, their ENTIRE character development was "oh hey we have a bet going on" "lets throw our hands in the air and die" Good usage of 2 characters you threw in for no reason. I did not care for one single person in this movie because they had no development whatsoever.

*IDIOT FUCKING SCIENTISTS, literally.
In the first alien as far as i can recall they picked up a random signal and checked something out with NO idea whatsoever they would be dealing with new life. In this however they specifically set out to interact and discover life that they had reason to believe would be there. They however are less safe and intelligent than a fucking mining crew was in how they act once they get there.
- Oh hey, we can breathe let's all take off our helmets for no reason even though there could be a billion things wrong with this in terms of foreign life and disease/bacteria.
-Let's reenter this room later after our people are missing and put our faces in front of some god damn leaky jars on a foreign planet. Oh a liquid that for all i know could be the most poisonous shit in the world? Let me take my helmet off and stare at it, possibly play with it.
-People are dying, fuck safety precautions let's run back to the ship and fuck everything for everyone else.(theron did good here but it still felt forced as shit with idiot fuckface suiciding himself to her flamethrower)

*The mohawk guy gets infected
-Im going to crabwalk to the ship like a retard because weird inhuman things are scary for the audience.
-now im going to walk like a bipedal creature and punch everyone in the fucking face with my super strength and for some reason i just really love to fuck shit up and kill people. Why do i like to fuck shit up? who knows i don't have to explain myself because im thrust into the movie for a little bit of action because you are probably tired of seeing dumb scientists being dumb.

*half naked noomi walking around the entire ship and gets a super fast abortion and then continues to wander around covered in blood with no one noticing or anything. Must be a giant fucking ship because they certainly had a large enough crew to have nameless people being thrown around like ragdolls. Also wtf was the point of making her religious? i don't care that she is but they continued to harp on it constantly throughout the movie, even going so far as to have her take her cross back from david at the end. Good lord thats so deep and philosophical man we all just want to find out where we are coming from. Edit: just remembered how she faked being out and then whacked the 2 scientists in the head and then bolted through quarantine with an alien baby inside her because she is freaking out too much to be rational.(this was retarded)


*2 parts where a huge cut was obvious, but will be fixed in directors cut.


*Engineer is alive and all his bro's are dead and he has no idea what's going on or why there are weird aliens standing outside his bed. Let's rip off this robots head and beat everyone to death and then sprint as fast as i can to an escape pod just to make sure i killed all these fucking wierdo's on my planet for no reason whatsoever. One can only assume david told him to go fuck his mother.

inb4 i get blasted for things im unaware of because i haven't read 30 alien books that are all canon and would for some reason explain how shit this movie was.


edit: oh yea androids shouldn't be mischievous cunts, it makes no sense at all that they would derive joy and entertainment from fucking things up unless they are severely broken. Im 99% sure weyland wasn't ordering david to infect crew members at a whim.

I am actually mad that a mining crew that has no expectations of interacting with new life actually does a better job of playing it by the book and using sound logic for the most part than a fucking ship full of scientists who are prepared to meet new life.(they may not have known when they signed up, but they at least had a briefing and were ALL scientists except the nameless hired guns that all die anyway)

Visuals were solid, everything else was shit including the script.

If you're looking for an entire movie focused on a Ripley type character taking on aliens, you'll be disappointed. I however didn't expect this, so Prometheus was enjoyable.

Wife and I wanted to see in 3D, local theater has 8 IMAX 3D showings, 2 Normal 3D showings (one at 1240pm, wtf is up with that) and like 14 2D showings. 2D it is then. I just can't do IMAX. Saw Harry Potter and the Very Boring Camping Trip in IMAX for my birthday and shit hurt my eyes any time there was a bright flash.

Great movie, go see it! I wasn't a huge fan of the Alien series back in the day, I liked 1 and 2, thought 3 was eh and hit my brain with a pencil to erase memories of 4, but this movie was pretty damn good. It answers some questions but raises a lot too.

Opening scene is strange. Fiance says it shows the guy disassembling himself on earth to create all manner of life. I thought he took some sort of "alien" virus for the xenomorph stuff and infected a water source in his own planet.

The alien in the ship who tears off David's head and starts up the ship, is he contaminated?

From my understanding, this was a research facility, where they were engineering bioweapons and an outbreak took them all out?

I have to wonder if they will make another, it would be interesting to see the woman actually meet up with the "engineers" and see if the Xenomorph virus is of their creation, or something they were researching a way to fight (aka the Xenomorphs are a huge threat to the galaxy)

the pacing was atrocious, major plot events like the flamethrower suicide + impromptu abortion + Weyland reveal are given no time to breathe or be processed by the cast. by the end of the rushed film they have seemingly no reaction to much of anything besides "omg u guyz!!!! k, let's move on to next narrative mark". and despite the rush it's still over two hours. who the hell was editing this film.

dialogue is either totally forgettable or a giant lump of ham, "i can't create life :'''''''(" "as you say.... fatherrrr!!!!" the repeated attempts to correlate a religious belief system with the ancient aliens premise oscillates from being obtuse to the point of total imperceptibility or functioning with all the subtlety and depth of a freshman-level thesis. next person to utter the tritely alliterative "meet my maker" is getting a groin punch

HMMMMM, a cobra alien lifeform i encounter after discovering a giant massacre that reminds my buddy of the Holocaust. time to play with it. that is what they taught me in science academy.

the movie stutters from one set-piece horror to the next but there is no attachment to any of these characters and no tension ever created. they merely die one after the other and we do not care that they do so and there is never enough atmospheric suspense for us to be frightened with them.

the movie looks gorgeous at least, the visual design doesn't suffer for moving away from H. R. Giger's work. 3d was serviceable and the special effects were mad dope.

thematically it's a mess, it doesn't scare, the narrative only serves to propel poorly written characters from one event to the next, and the thrills are the kind generated by any other violent summer blockbuster
