Prometheus (June 8, 2012)

I really liked it. Yes there was some goofy things going on to advance the plot. But the tone and suspense was interesting and the movie had a refreshing feel despite not being super sophisticated.

Great movie, go see it! I wasn't a huge fan of the Alien series back in the day, I liked 1 and 2, thought 3 was eh and hit my brain with a pencil to erase memories of 4, but this movie was pretty damn good. It answers some questions but raises a lot too.

Opening scene is strange. Fiance says it shows the guy disassembling himself on earth to create all manner of life. I thought he took some sort of "alien" virus for the xenomorph stuff and infected a water source in his own planet.

The alien in the ship who tears off David's head and starts up the ship, is he contaminated?

From my understanding, this was a research facility, where they were engineering bioweapons and an outbreak took them all out?

I have to wonder if they will make another, it would be interesting to see the woman actually meet up with the "engineers" and see if the Xenomorph virus is of their creation, or something they were researching a way to fight (aka the Xenomorphs are a huge threat to the galaxy)

I didn't understand the opening scene, that was a pretty good interpretation of it, I thought it was him committing suicide because he got infected by the Xenomorth virus.

The Engineer on the ship who ripped of Davids head wasn't infected until he got attacked by the giant face hugger at the end of the movie.

It was a weapons manufacturing facility where they engineered Bioweapons, it wasn't the Engineers home planet like the movie suggested. Apparently they were engineering the Xenomorph virus and planned to infect the human race with it, but something went wrong and they were all killed.

Supposedly the "engineers' come to look on their creations back in the early ages, and one gets crucified. Because of this they deem humanity should be deleted (seems really flimsy honestly)

If he wasnt infected before the face hugger, then why were his eyes completely black? The one in the beginning of the movie if I remember didn't have blacked out eyes. The rage he had seemed to be like the rage that geologist had when he comes back to the ship and starts tearing apart the crew. The black eyes look like the eyes of Charlie the archaeologist before he gets burnt.

Also for anyone who remembers the events of Alien and Alien 2, do this planet or Prometheus get brought up? It's been years since I saw either one, though I have the boxset sitting next to me, might pop them in today at some point.

still was a enjoyable flick just not what I was hyped for. Also why the fuck does the daughter of the old man have a "Male" only surgeon machine in her room that is specifically designed for her and that could act as a safe haven if shit went down, which is failed to even do.

At that point I was like ok shes a dude that her father didn't want to accept as his heir to his company, but then remembered when she invited the black guy back to her room which never got mentioned again. And really the main character is freaking wandering the ship with her gut stapled shut and this isnt bothering anyone, even when she stumbles upon the old man, lets just have a normal conversation dont mind me covered in blood with staples, or the fact there is a alien fetus in your daughters surgical pod that for all I know is still alive tra la la la la.

and wtf at the ending when she wants to see the aliens home planet in a 2000 year old version alien ship, to a race that is apparently trying to kill their own creation unless they where a sepritist <sp> group or something creating a biological weapon that mutates based on the race its killing.

I did like when they first get off the ship and the guy picks up a flamethrower and the one girl is like "Oh this is a scientific mission"

The fuck is wrong with you? No matter where you go you bring a mother fucker with a gun just in case. Even if you're going to go dig down in South America, bitches be crazy and you need to protect yourself...but another planet all together to go in like "la deee da la dee da, everyone in the universe is peaceful and there is no rain only sunshine"

I understand David was keeping it underwraps...but his whole motives were strange too. He talks about wanting to see his parents dead...but the alien just tears his head off w/o any thought

The male only bed is kind of strange too, I can understand though since they said only a very few were ever made, makes sense that richest guy in the world would have one..and I guess her "lifepod" room is more for her and her father then just her.

they probably should have left the deleted scene in since the audience is left clueless why the aliens are trying to kill off their own creations, due to the whole film being against the notion of God the crucified alien could probably be seen as Jesus and explain some of the miracles we associate him with.

For all the aliens and the queen to come about..they need hosts. Now she took one of the military ships to go find the Engineer's homeplanet..and that shit is loaded with "fuck juice". Perhaps she ends up contaminating the engineers with their own biovirus and that's where the Alien species comes from we see in the other movies?

I mean, w/o any hosts, that one alien at the end of the movie can't really reproduce. All that's left on that planet are dead bodies of the engineers. Even the crew of the Prometheus were incinerated when it blew up, dead bodies and all

The other 3 pods in the control room looked to have dead engineers in them. Stasis killed them. Captain asks David this at the start of the movie "Were there any casualties" hinting that it's not a full proof liveable setup.

So there could be more...but who will let them out? Are they still even alive?

The movie was incredible, but IMO you have to be a huge Alien fan. General ticket-goer will not enjoy it because there is too much left open and the questions answered by Alien they are clueless of if they haven't seen or don't remember it.
