Isn't that a bad thing as far as movies go? Like, look this is an excellent film BUT if you haven't seen x and y, then you won't get jack shit. That's a load of bs since Aliens proved this, hell it even expanded more by introducing the queen. That being said, Aliens > Alien by little, but really like them. Alien 3 and the others don't exist. Can't wait to see this one ;o

If that's the case someone wanna list off the things from Alien you need to know? It was a good movie but I'm not planning to watch it again this weekend and I don't remember it too well.

I actually enjoyed the movie. There were only two things I would have changed or thought were weird.

    1. 2089-2093(4) is a bit optimistic for space travel across the galaxy isn't it? I heard a pilot of the ship say they would turn on the Ion Engines, so I assume he's referring the the real life Ion Particle engines NASA is working with, but even those would take a LOOOOOONG time to get to the nearest star. Maybe I'm just looking into that too much as technically none of the stuff in the movie is possible, but oh well. It just bugged me.

    2. I liked the idea of the Xenomorph predecessor coming out of the Engineer's chest, but I think it would have been better if it had stuck at just showing something about to burst out of its chest before cutting to credits.

Oh well... just my thoughts. I'll let the others continue to complain about the movie now....

Depends on how recent the movie is. That boxed set with a free ticket/discount helped but given the age of the movies most people wont automatically have seen it with important details fresh in their memory.

Avengers is much better with what you described since everything is nice and fresh in their audience's mind.

Overall continuity in movies is fairly recent given the marvel movies are the first time I know of it being used properly if ever.

If you saw AvP2 (Yeah I know, you need to watch the movies to piece all this crap together) they recover a piece of Predator technology that is a self-sustaining energy source, which basically sets the stage for the Alien movies and space travel in general. This takes place at around 2008, so it's safe to assume going from a self-sustaining energy source to space travel in 80 years isn't too farfetched.

Oh that came from avp 2? I figured it was from comics when i checked the wiki page which explained human FTL travel is based on predator tech.

Anyone else laugh when they show charlize theron going all the way down on pushups when zoomed in, and then they zoom out and she's doing little baby girl push ups?

And fuck you, i love alien aliens and even alien 3. It isn't that there is too much left out it's that this new retarded style of movie making is "hey lets put in plot holes and let the audience guess at thing" is becoming more and more popular. Also the pacing and editing was complete shit. There is nothing deep in this movie, and there isn't much of anything good in this movie, wooden characters, shit dialogue, no character build up, and completely forced religious undertones at every chance. I didn't go in expecting sigourney and amazingness but i did make the mistake of not expecting trash i guess.

People's 5min theories on attempting to explain this piece of crap are actually more entertaining than said piece of crap.

    Spoiler: show
God damn, how do people not get the scene with the suicidal Engineer at the start? It's simple:

'Prometheus' refers to more than one thing in the film, and both tie back to the Greek legend of the God who gave fire to man.

The Engineer at the start IS Prometheus - at least, that's one of the possible interpretations I gathered from the film. By creating us in his image - his DNA - he made us on equal standing with the other gods, the rest of the Engineers. That is the sin that causes the Engineers to choose to destroy us: we were an abomination not meant to be created, springing from the hubris of the Prometheus-Engineer.

The other Prometheus is obviously the ship itself - representing man challenging the gods in search of knowledge. Again, mankind would not have been possible if not for the Prometheus-Engineer's sacrifice, so the ship's naming is almost a sort of tribute.

The reason the last Engineer goes into a complete killing rage at the end is because he is presented with the sin which they had previously tried to eradicate, yet failed to because of the Xeno/goo outbreak - man, by creating life in the form of David, has now reached a comparable level to the Engineers, threatening their godhood.

The only big loophole with this theory is still the fucking cave paintings.

    Spoiler: show
The Engineers are spreading life for some reason, and that reason seems to be hinted at. They are clearly seeking to create weapons for war. The fluid is clearly a weapon of war. How do they make the fluid? And in such large amounts as they had? My friends and I came to the conclusion that they seed life to break it down into the fluid. Life is, for the Engineers, a thing to be harvested at a certain point, and not allowed to rival them. They're trying to eliminate whatever is threatening them, not seed more creatures that could possibly threaten them. Hence their wanting to go to earth and break down life. Answering the invitation was the cue to go harvest them.

    Spoiler: show

And yes for those that didn't "understand" the intro, that was an alien seeding life on earth.
Yes the escape pod and the medical chamber was for weyland. This is even somewhat confirmed by him talking to theron saying he didn't even think she would show up.

And for shits and giggles a crazy review of awesome
    Spoiler: show
The only two blonde characters are both portrayed as evil and authoritarian members of the Weyland corporation.

The captain of the ship is a negro.

During a video introduction to the crew of the ship on their mission, the founder of the Weyland corp indicates that the blonde male is like his "son," but "lacks a soul," for he is an android. It is also alluded that Weyland himself is probably dead of old age by the time the crew watches the video at their destination.

None of the members of the crew wear uniforms, not even then negro captain. The exception is the two blondes who both wear sharp military style uniforms. There is an implicit portrayal of class struggle here, with the humble workers/Marxists who can do no wrong vs the Bourgeoisie Nazis Who Want to Kill Six Million Jews.

The reason they're on their mission is to discover the home planet of the Engineers, the rumored hyperborean male-only race of White super-patriarchs who supposedly created humanity and all life on Earth. This is important for later.

After arriving and exploring the planet, they find the place dead. The white husband of the main protagonist, the redhead female, becomes disillusioned and gives up—he's portrayed as a deadbeat, useless, and only good for sex.

One of the characters mentions "The Holocaust" when describing a pile of dead alien Engineer bodies that is discovered.

The negro captain hits on the blonde female, and she smiles and reciprocates, telling him to "meet me in my quarters in 10 minutes." It is then heavily implied that they had sex.

Steven Spielberg's name is narcissistic-ally mentioned by the negro captain in reference to one of his personal keep sakes.

The blonde android is seen communicating with Weyland corp via a secret communications channel, and begins to experiment on the husband of the redhead woman with alien nanoweaponry/biologicals. The android is portrayed as a charming Nazi doctor type, who beguiles his victims which is contrasted with the diabolical nature of his experiments. It's almost like the image the director/producers wanted was like he's cutting open a Jewish child hand-picked from a deathcamp, while calmly telling the child "it's alright, you'll be just fine." The infected husband has sex with his red head wife.

Later, the husband starts showing symptoms and tries to reenter the ship after an expidition to search for missing crew members. The blonde woman refuses to allow him to enter, and instead incinerates him in cold blood. The redhead women screams, protesting that he could have been saved if only she could have used the sole medical pod found exclusively in the blonde woman's personal quarters. The redhead woman then passes out.

When the redhead woman reawakens, the blonde android is reaching over her removing her Christian Cross necklace, and when she tries to stop him, he says "I need to remove this, it may be infected."

The blonde android performs a medical scan on the redhead and finds that she is infected with an alien hybrid from being inseminated by her infected husband. That's right, white people gave birth to the aliens of the later movies. I'm sure you can all see the references to Jesus and Christianity here as well and what the Jews really think of it all.

The blonde android refuses to remove it from her, providing justifications that are neither her nor there. He seems more interested in letting the "experiment" run it's course.

The blonde android tells the redhead "it must feel like your God abandoned you" and then informs her that Weyland staff/crew will be along shortly to put her back into cryostasis.

Later, she escapes and makes it to the medical pod in the blonde female's quarters. She activates the console, but the voice interface tells her the machine is calibrated for "male patients only" and that she should seek medical assistance elsewhere. Oh, that damn "male privilege!" She then forcefully overrides the "male privilege" exception in the user interface, demonstrating that women can "smash the patriarchy."

She takes an anesthetic and jumps into the medical pod just as the alien is about to burst forth. The surgical robot begins to give her a C-section, but the anesthetic hasn't yet taken effect. The grueling surgery is depicted in all of its bloody horror, as the alien placenta is plucked from her womb by robotic arms. The alien then tries to attack, as she rips the umbilical cord with her bare hands and struggles to get out of the pod. Surely, a grisly warning from Hollywood to every white women who ever planned to have children, one that won't be forgotten by the movie's viewers.

The redhead stumbles through the corridors of the blonde female's special quarters, and comes across a room in which the secret comes out. Weyland himself has been along for the rid. He's not dead after-all, and this was with whom the android was communicating with all along. Weyland is here to meet with one of the "Engineer" aliens discovered on the planet to be still alive in cryostasis in an attempt to plead for immortality.

The redhead and the black captain have a scene in which he refuses to go along with helping the "damn whities" open up "pandora's box" any further, thus averting suffering for his fellow mudskins back on Earth. The Whites are always the cause of all of the Black's problems, after all, right?

The blonde women is revealed to be Weyland's daughter. Weyland called the blonde android his "son." The blonde android calls the blonde woman his "mom." Those crafty Jewish producers and script writers sure love tarnishing blonde haired Aryans in every way they can, and the suggestion of incest is not off limits.

The blonde women obviously has a vendetta against her own father.

The plot twist of the movie: the Engineers not only created humanity, but decided that what they did was a bad idea, implying they hate egalitarian philosophies/civilization, and had then embarked on destroying humanity, and planned to send their biological/nanobot weaponry to eradicate life on Earth. When they awaken the Engineer, he immediately starts killing the humans and launches the ship on its course.

The redhead continues to ask "why!?" as if she can't see anything wrong with egalitarianism.

The black captain saves the day by sacrificing his ship and his multi-cult crew, who lovingly follow him to their fates. Meanwhile, the blonde women lacks the virtue of sacrifice and gets on an escape pod, crashing back on the planet. Blacks = altruistic. Aryans = self-centered.

Blonde and redhead women running to avoid being crushed by crashing ships. Redhead stumbles and falls, blonde doesn't help and keeps running, gets crushed. Redhead lives.

Redhead kills the Engineer by opening up a room containing the alien "Jesus" she gave birth to, and letting them duke it out.

Redhead and the damaged blonde android then embark to commandeer another alien ship and turn it on the Engineer's homeplanet instead.

Blackie wins the battle, but Women will win the war against the Patriarchy of the Engineers.

I probably missed dozens of other plot devices used to push kike propaganda, I gave up keeping track of everything half-way through watching this deplorable film.

The blonde android tells the redhead "it must feel like your God abandoned you" and then informs her that Weyland staff/crew will be along shortly to put her back into cryostasis.

that's actually him been spiteful to her since her now dead husband basically told them "we made you because we could" which in turn made him ask "how would you feel if your creators said that about you" at this point her husband is pretty wasted and just smiles and laughs....oh wait he also gets a Alien worm droplet in his wine

If AvP is part of canon, and that shit happened in 2008....that would make no sense in the timeline of this movie then. So Aliens were around in 2008...then engineers created this bio-weapon that makes Aliens and then Prometheus finds it in 2089? o_O??? And then a Xenomorph pops out of the engineer?

Also AvP movies were terrible, I'm saying right now they are in now way part of Canon. Aliens and Predators exist in the same universe and fight, but those movies never happened

Just went back and read the spoiler tags, and like Welt said, you have to have an understanding of Alien. I have to question if you guys watched Alien/Aliens. Some of the shit you guys said you didn't understand was incredibly easy to get.

    Spoiler: show
Hell, I knew almost immediately when the pods started mapping that it was that "U" shaped ship that was abandoned in Alien.

What does something that is revealed in the previews have to do with making this a good movie?

Nothing...it was a reference to earlier spoilers where people were asking questions. If you didn't watch alien, you wouldn't know unless you research the previews further.
