Why is this thread devolving into a shitfest? Oh, Titanss and Andalusian fuckhead.

Just saw the movie, enjoyed it thoroughly. I really hope a sequel is made because there are so many unanswered questions.

I enjoyed the movie and while it did answer some stuff, it obviously opened even more questions up. It had a ton of plot holes and retarded things but I guess it's the Alien fanboy in me that still enjoyed it and looked past the overwhelmingly large pile of crap in it. That reddit post had some good ideas but eventually it was utter bullshit and just started twisting shit and over looking parts of the movie to follow his motif.

some comments about the movie and the reddit post.

1. Why would he think the alien head chose to blow itself up as a form of self-sacrifice? They didn't bring it back to life, they simply tried to restart a few basic functions and due to its insanely old age it caused it to become unstable and die, it blew up because HEY EXPLOSIONS COOL!

2. The Biologist was for some reason afraid of dead aliens.. afraid of possible life forms.. but not afraid of 3ft snake creatures coming out of black goo, that then show a clear aggressive responce to him by opening their flaps (like cobras and lizards do). BRILLIANT!

3. The Reddit guy talks about the "virgin birth" on Christmas etc. Shaw had sex 10hrs before, how is that a virgin birth? It wasn't Christmas, iwas the day after, they landed on Christmas and spent the night there after the storm.

4. A C-Section (Caesarean) is a perfectly normal operation that happens all the time to remove a living baby. Does anyone think she really wanted that machine to kill the alien baby in her and then pull it out her vagina? She wanted it out, fast. Slice her open and yank it out with one of those robot grabber arms from the games where you try to pick up stuffed animals. The whole abortion/pro-choice talk everywhere is retarded.

5. The idea of Jesus being an engineer and our crucifying him the reason Aliens decided to kill us all is cool but the fact that they put "invitations" in cave paintings to their Biological Weapons Facility 33,000 years before Christ died kind of negates that.

Just got back from watching it. Enjoyed it in a turn your brain off kind of way. Seemed like it was pretty badly written in my opinion, a lot of parts made absolutely no sense.

1. What exactly was the "invitation?" Doubt the Engineers wanted to give humans a road map to their military installations. And do we really expect to believe this was enough evidence for a corporation to provide ridiculous funding to it?

2. A trillion dollar several year mission and the majority of scientists there hear what they're doing for the very first time after the fact when briefed at the destination?

3. Charlie getting utterly depressed and drunk about the engineers being all dead, the guy comes to this conclusion after spending twenty minutes on one site in an entire planet.

4. What exactly was David up to the whole time? Was he trying to create his own species? What exactly was his motive?

5. The holograms showing the engineers running to a room filled with the very thing supposedly killing them off. Then when the scientists get there no other bodies were found except for the one decapitated.

6. Generic tough guy geologist Fifeild and his geeky buddy being scared of absolutely everything and then seemingly wanting to play with some weird shit coming out of black ooze.

7. Why was the engineer still in cryostasis? Was he waiting for someone to wake him up so he can go destroy Earth? Kind of doesn't make any sense since he's already in the brig, even during the outbreak he was seemingly safe and could have taken off in the several thousands of years they were there.

8. Charlize Theron was completely pointless in this movie lol. You could have deleted her character and absolutely no difference would have been made to the movie.

9. The engineer chases after Shaw and gets owned by the squid monster at the end and yet, poof, he's right back in the brig on the pilots chair at the beginning of Alien.

Admittedly I don't remember much from the Alien films and I'm giving this movie the benefit of the doubt that the theatrical cut butchered the film. Just think they need to hire better writers and editors if there's ever a sequel.

My g/f and I were talking about that after we saw it tonight. Our guess was that was them "Seeding" the planet Earth billions of years before. The ship just dropped off an Engineer, they drank the liquid which broke down it's DNA which fell into the water and helped to seed life on Earth.

Another issue I wanna bring up. Watching the original Alien, the computer constantly states 2037. Prometheus states 2093. Explain!

As far as the eggs goes, Prometheus flat out stated the vases were evolving organisms. No stretch of the imagination to state these same vases were the eggs in Alien, no queen required.

That would be a viable theory if they did not show how the first graboid alien thing came about with the red head and her infected husband having sex and concieving the first one. Can't imagine how they would explain the rest of the pots becoming eggs with the exact same features/ability with no interaction from another similar organism.

Prometheus is set on a completely different planet than where the derelict was found in alien. Prometheus is set on LV-223 and alien's derelict was found on LV- 426. Just sayin.

It is and it isn't a sequel. I found that pretty easy to understand from the Movie and barely remembering Alien.

My guess on what David was doing by giving the dude the drop of black crap was to test what it did in a quick manner. As the old dude stated. He was days from dying(Though, if he was, why was he walking the few miles to the Cockpit to begin with but that's beside the point).

People really seem to be trying to make many connections where there aren't any and thus ruining a decent movie for themselves.

That...makes some sense. Seems like most people are going into this movie expecting everything to be outright told at once. Ridley scott livestream interview I posted pages ago, mentioned leaving questions open if a sequel happens.

Having read that review just makes the movie seem even more pretentious and full of shit then it seems. Maybe Ridley should work on a better script with competent editors before making something "2deep brah!" He makes a beautiful movie with a brain dead story I'll give him that. Hopefully the blu-ray actually has the real movie with a coherent plot.

And for those saying you need to be an Alien(s) fan. Just rewatched both last night and the majority of shit in Prometheus still doesn't make sense.

Question - I've never seen any of the Alien movies, are they required to understand a lot of Prometheus?

No, and it doesn't matter. Watch them after, that way you don't have to worry about comparisons to the Alien movies fucking up your ability to enjoy Prometheus for what it is.
