Just watched this and was very entertained. I agree with some of the questionable scenes, but overall I'd say the movie was a 7/10 and I look forward to a sequel.
So I hear the original movie (from the theater) was overall bad and confusing but all the deleted scenes and directors/writers commentary from the dvd/bluray made the movie make sense and awesome. Is this true?
Basically is it worth the buy to get the extra dvd stuff to fully enjoy/understand the movie ?
You can fully enjoy the theatrical movie if you take 10min putting the pieces together. Commentary helps if you need to set the game to easy mode.
Don't know, those deleted scenes didn't really add anything to the grand scheme of things.
Prometheus suked
You suked
You just don't GET IT, man! It's too DEEP for you!
GODLIKE movie.
Just saw it and the only thing I didn't understand is why David infected that guy. Or, since I don't get that then maybe there are other things I don't get, but it all seemed pretty straight forward to me. Watched the deleted scenes afterwards and I don't really think they added to anything. It gave a better reason for the engineer to just kill everybody, but wasn't necessary. I was really hoping that this would end with the setting up of Alien, but I guess there is still time for that in the next one.
Overall, it was an entertaining enough movie, but nothing special.
as far as David infecting Charlie, it was right after Weyland told him to "try harder" in finding what they were looking for, I assumed that was him trying harder, just an experiment to see what would happen
there's a lot of theories flying around the net about David working for someone else other than Weyland, but those are just theories for now
Thank goodness they worked out those bugs in later revisions of the androids <_<
Well, see, that's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking that it is the same company as the one in the original, and their priority has always been to obtain the bioweapons seen in this movie. It was the top priority of the android in Alien, and David seems to act in the same manner. All the actions in this movie obviously weren't recorded in history, because the crew in Alien state something about there never being any recorded life found other than on Earth, but that doesn't mean that the company didn't keep a record of it.
All of this is idle speculation, though. Another thing I forgot to address was the opening scene and what significance it held, but I have a feeling most people are just as clueless about it (unless there was another deleted scene I missed).
Space Jesus was giving up his life to start a new life on planet Nibiru.
He sacrificed himself to seed earth with life. Later alien jesus went down to check on them and got the shit murdered the fuck out of him. This caused them to want to murder all earth people, however their weapon took them out before they could even reach earth again. When the engineer woke up and saw this selfish race that they failed to exterminate talking to him asking for immortal life he flipped his shit.
Prometheus was an OK movie. Nothing to still be excited about.
Science movie of the year of all years in my opinion. It's just too deep for the general public.
