the only thing that confuses me is, if they do a sequel to this it will go in a different direction then alien instead of joining the two up, now don't get me wrong Alien 1-3 amazing films (4 your ok but...yeah lost the magic somewhere) but i can't be the only one that would like these films to actually join up (and Alien vs predator isn't canon right since its set in our time, and wouldn't the space jockeys want to kill predators unless space jockeys are the ship captain of the predators....) i guess it would be nice for these fims to finish up the "time line" of our alien history (so far its 2085 til 2450ish?)

Afaik, Alien and Predator even being set in the same universe isn't canon. It's just fanwank.

There are plenty of books/comics of Alien and Pred being part of the same universe. Pred 2 there was an alien head in the ship. I would agree that in the original incarnations of each they weren't. But it moved to be. Same could be said for Batman and Superman.

Dantrag is correct. Original Alien and Predator films, they were not together...but once they started the Cross over in the comics, came a huge success, so they started introducing
them together.

There's an AvP universe, sure. Completely separate from the original Alien/Prometheus universe.

It's no more fanfiction than Superman and Batman...

Superman and Batman were originally separate universes. So was everything Marvel. Over time popular comics/books/superheroes cross realms. Hell, you now have Marvel vs DC stuff too.

Well, I for one, don't care if the story links up honestly. I've seen the alien and predator movies and played plenty of the games. But for me, the most interesting thing of this new film is about the Space Jockeys. ..That and seeing Charlize Theron nearly naked.

Dantrag is correct on this. The comics do bear meaning to the main movies as evidence resides in Raphael's gun at the end of Predator 2 and the pred from the comics at the end. They are the same universe. Of course the first movie of Predator is going to focus on the pred.

The Predator universe being canon with the AVP universe doesn't make either of them canon in the alien universe.
