Take marathon and sleight of hand
I'll put another vote in for the 98 Custom, and also recommend avoiding cheap paintballs. I remember PMI Premium being a good choice.
PMI is where I got all of my paint and refused to shoot anything else. Bought a case of 2500 and only broke one ball of that entire set. The most I ever broke from a case of PMI paintballs was probably 5 or 6.
Glad everyone said the 98, def the best choice. Pretty much where everybody starts out, and its great for outdoor games with a flatline as you'll have range on everybody. Once you get into it and start doin speedball you're gonna need to hop on with the big boys though.
Lol. Ya i would recommend the tippman 98 custom. I use it to play woods ball all the time with it and it had np. I think theyre about $100 or so at the hobby store here. And like everyone said, avoid cheap paint.
Tipp 98 custom was my first gun and it was great. I upgraded to a Mini Invert about a year and a half ago but I still have that gun as my tried and true backup.
As for paint I usually go with Weapons Grade paint or Formula 13.
Fuck yes, I love PMI balls. I remember one time I had a brand new bag, walking to my car after the game and some dick came up behind me and shot up my bag of balls. I remember I hit his inner thigh from like 2 feet away, was just a little to the left
This is key. Had a friend leave his mask out in the sun once. Originally it had a dark red bill which was easy enough to spot, it turned bright pink in the sun and stuck out like a sore thumb.
Can't go wrong with the 98 custom. It's still one of the better OMGNONPRO paintball guns today.
My tips for playing paintball is to always make sure you expose as little of your body as possible, and depending on the field always make sure to maximize your use of cover.
I like to pretend I'm Solid Snake. It's worked well so far against friends but pro paintballers would probably eat me alive.
How hard is it to keep a bearing of your surroundings and where people are? Like is it difficult to know when someone's to the left of you or something like that, how are your experiences with that?
camera spikes and heartbeat monitors
But those cost $2000
I'm cheap, I still prefer martydom

lol that's ridiculous.
Lol @ CoD references. You just got to pay attention. Pay attention to surroundings etc. Get a feel for the field before you go and camo up accordingly, find routes, sniping points, etc etc.
Paintball is fucking fun, I havnt played in a while, miss the hell out of it.
Just keep calm and only ride the adrenaline when making runs from bunker to bunker. Peek out every so often but not enough for people to get a total fix on where you are before you start shooting. You should have a decent idea of where your team is. Other than that it's just some logic things like not to run into the middle of a clearing. lolHow hard is it to keep a bearing of your surroundings and where people are? Speedball is all rushing around so it's a lot harder to tell where people are. Watch the snakes for people crawling along it because they're most likely the ones who will flank your team if the person watching it gets tagged. Try and keep a mental image of the field layout because whenever a teammate gets tagged they got hit by someone who had line of sight on them.
Buy used equipment, PB nation is most likely the best place to track things down, I've never had an issue with buying used and you normally will save around 100$ + on guns and other equipment.
For tips in playing in the woods, just don't sit in one spot, try to get as far up as possible when the whistle blows, if you sit behind a bunker in the back the entire game you won't accomplish anything.
woodsball = 98 custom
if your going to be playing speedball i would say upgrade to http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/6044/ its a pretty damn fantastic gun for how cheap u can get it used 90$-120$ 199$ new
Learn to snap with both hands, dont use cheap paint, ALWAYS carry the tools you need to clean your gun and take it apart during a game, if you are going to be playing often spring for a good mask seriously im surprised more people haven't mentioned this, if you get a shitty mask your going to have a shitty day and see nothing except wavey trees and a fogged up lens as the mask slides up and down ur face because it doesnt fit right.
