Not Final Fantasy but that Corridors of Time track from the Chrono Trigger/Cross arrangement album is the shit.

I always dugged that vocal collection for X-2, especially Yuna's.

I think one was the Bresha Ruins track, it had vocals in JP but not for the other versions.

Distant Worlds always holds a soft spot for me since it was basically the culmination of my very first static group in any MMO. We kind of went our separate ways after (most weren't interested in endgame) but it was a truly great journey. We stayed together from everything beyond Promyvion to the end and 1shot almost everything. Game music in general, for me, is greatly amplified by personal experience. There are an assload of songs, vocal or not, that I didn't really feel anything special for until I experience whatever it's tied to. Then it kind of creates a lasting memory. You hear that song and you just relive that experience every time. The original SNES Chrono Trigger opening theme gives me chills every time for that reason too.

Answers as well for much the same reason as Distant Worlds; basically the final hurrah of our XIV static (since we pretty much all quit around A2S for varying reasons). Culmination of a year and a half of good times on top of being a pivotal tune linking 1.0 to 2.0. Made the otherwise uninteresting final phase of Bahamut so much better (although freaking the fuck out over Akh Morn initially had its own novelty).

If we count them, I also rank quite a few of the XIV primal themes up there as far as FF vocals go. Oblivion, Under The Weight, Locus (Alex general boss theme) all p.good. The Primals version of Oblivion is also a little better than the ingame version.

Not as epic as anything here but Kaze No Ne from Crystal Chronicles is also full of feels.

Also, you want a real guilty pleasure? Redemption, Dirge of Cerberus.

I must be the only one who prefers Izumi Masuda to Susan Calloway for Distant Worlds.

This is definitely one of my favorites.

    I also like 1000 Words.

Also, thanks for that post, Skai! I've never heard that version of song.

Gackt is THE SHIT though. I remember being so excited about the Dirge of Cerberus commercials on TV because they played that song and I was a huge Gackt fan at the time. (still am a fan, but not a fangirl anymore)

I too enjoy some Yasunori Mitsuda music, and CT/CC were Squaresoft so it counts.

i was gonna say the exact same thing.

1000 words in Japanese was not bad too.

sadly the English singer was terrible and whoever produced her vocals or did the sound editing was terrible too.

I'm saddened that there hasn't been a single mention of "Kiss Me Goodbye" yet.

Eyes on Me, Japanese version. Slightly modified (there's no official cover), but still for those that like the JP dosage...

So much news/content on this shit the past week and the only time the thread moves is to talk about music in other fucking games lol

Just got back from Kingsglaive, thought it was perfectly enjoyable. Expect gamers/gaming sites to love it and for film critics to rip into it rather harshly though. Not sure it can really stand on its own without the context of the game.

Yep, that's what they're doing lol. It's getting terrible reviews from film critics but whatever, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as a taste of what's to come in the game.
