So Sono's thread was not a fake after all lol
I think making it the next main FF entry is about as good as you can do as far as taking the game to release goes. FF Versus can be in development hell for decades, but FFXV, as a franchise flag bearer needs to come out sooner or later.
The pics were photoshopped, but the predictions happened to be true.
Non-laggy trailer:
think there's any significance to the ending words "A world of the versus epic"?
I'm excited for Shadow of the Colossus. Oh wait that was Versus gameplay! Fuck yes!!
That leviathan
The guy at 0:47 is Snow. He lost his arm due to the l'Cie brand he got.
Spoiler: show
Well guess i'll definitely getting a ps4 then lol, was on the fence but this just pushed me off it into the mud of awesomeness :O
Am I the only one who thinks this is fucking stupid? I have no problem with the XIII experiment because at their heart they were still JRPGs. They're respectable games that I enjoyed, but not really anything to get excited over and the only release this generation. Then theres XIV, which is online and an unmitigated disaster. XV was the next hope for a decent JRPG, now it's an action game kicking off the PS4 generation?
Shit sucks. And it's not to say I won't like the game, but one of my favorite franchises in my favorite genre hasn't put out a traditional release in almost a decade now.. with the next possible successor being XVI which likely hasn't even seen the whiteboard yet.
Just because the gameplay elements seem to be faster and more action orienented doesn't mean it won't be chalked full of standard JRPGness. I am willing to bet outside of combat XV will have more in common with the games your wanting then any of the other FNC games have.
What is "traditional" in your eyes?
jRPGs will not be turn-based, ATB non-real time games anymore... if you want those types of games you have about 10 FF titles to play.
FF needs to change with the times, and it is. FF has always evolved and that's what makes it such a great franchise. I have no problem with XV being action. If you ever played a KH game for more than an hour you'd know how fun that type of gameplay actually is.
That being said, you're still going to get your same generic jRPG storyline elements, and everything else in-between, so I don't see why a more action-orientated gameplay is such an issue.
looks amazing, day 1
Uhh, the same as everybody else's eyes I suppose. Some combination of open world/map crawling/non-linear RPG where you control multiple characters during battle and progress a story. Not A-B tunnel shooting or completing "levels" with cutscenes in between.
I'd actually argue that's why the franchise has become a laughing stock in recent years; failed evolution attempts.
I'm speaking from a gameplay standpoint, yeah?
Take out the online games, FF10 was a huge step forward from the PSX generation and did exceptionally well. FF12 was good in its own right gameplay wise, I just wasn't a fan of the story. 13 might have been pretty linear and boring, and the gameplay was way too easy, but they kind of fixed the impression with 13-2 and 13-3 will probably surprise a lot of people even though Light is the only playable character.
The fact you don't like the direction of their progress towards a more action-esque style doesn't mean it's really failing.
Besides, you're really going to disregard a game and saying how much it stinks from watching a 4-minute trailer? I say give it a chance first. Nomura's team made amazing games in KH1/2, and if this gameplay is anything like them (which it seems to be, except better) then I'm all for it.
In terms of story, I hope it'll deliver, but who knows? They can't really have another shitty character lineup like Serah and Snow, can they? lol.
We won't know for sure til more info is released but that trailer did nothing to make me think linear 1 character tunnel game, it did the opposite. It's still too early to go all in on whether SE is really turned shit back around (tomorrow will be some more info but not likely to give as much as we want.) but with the way XIV is shaping up plus the 2 big reveals they did tonight they are on the right track.
I agree with Exo, if XV is a KH like gameplay I'm gonna be very happy. The story line looks like it's gonna be pretty good too.
