Remember the days when a 5/10 were shit, and a 7/10 wasn't a bad review? nowadays it feels like if it's not a 9 or 10, people think it's a shit review lol

8/10 ain't bad. Granted it's not the "I waited 10 years for this?!" but it seems like it's getting pretty good looks all around.

It's an 86 on metacritic right now as a JRPG. That's almost unheard of. As far as I'm concerned this means if you are a JRPG fan it's a 10/10 must buy. Hell even my friend that haaaaaates rpgs is curious.

That's honestly low for a mainline Final Fantasy game, and FF always gets a hype pass for overlooking small negatives. XIII still has an 83 even though it's popularly considered to be awful. And the 86 mark really isn't "unheard of."

Fire emblem fates got an 86-88 depending on the version.

SMT IV Apocalypse got an 85
Undertale got a 92

Reading the Kotaku review, I was definitiely saddened by this part:

Final Fantasy XV has a fantastic, scene-stealing main villain, but the other antagonists fizzle out fast. Characters who seem like they should be important are relegated to background roles, and by the end of the game a couple of them have just stopped showing up.

It's XIII all over again... Oh, well.

The majority of big name reviewers are up. I don't expect the 86 to change too much, maybe a point one way or the other.

Hobo was correct though on pointing out that it isn't quite unheard of, but I was trying to say that there are a ton of JRPGs that come out, a lot of which people look forward to and enjoy, but don't really get higher than 80. World of Final Fantasy is sitting at 78 and I love that game. Likewise JRPGs of similar style (action rpg ish) like the tales series tend to rate lower (Xilla got a 78 and again, I quite enjoyed it). Basically what it comes down to is the rpgs I look forward to the most usually score below 80 and I still enjoy them, so by scoring an 86 I am beyond hyped.

Interesting take from the financial side of things; I don't believe this will be the last FF, but I am curious to see how it fares in the end. Forgot I had SQNXF in my ticker tracking on the site until this popped in my email; generally just follow domestic REITs. (work in finance, yada yada)

I liked the article but he gets a little out there on his calls. I'd have said SQNXF was a sell at 33, but at 25? It's a hold in my book. Even if they amortize the cost of development and take a big hit (Which is now already fairly well reflected in their stock price). I think SE is fine even taking a few quarters of losses.

Just my two cents though and I'm not an RIA so this does not constitute investment advice.

Yeah, i personally enjoyed in the combat Star ocean 5 alot even though the AI was worthless, i really enjoyed FF12 a ton, and love kingdom hearts combat. I don't think i will like 15 it seems much more slow paced than i like, will know in a day though!
