Jealous of you all. Been watching UPS all day. After they apparently forgot to load the package in a truck yesterday, they loaded it at 12:30AM. As of 6AM, the truck was out for delivery. That's the last update I've gotten. I called UPS and they gave some canned bullshit about being unable to communicate with their drivers and my best bet was to wait outside my apartment (security door without buzzers, joy) until 8PM, at which point if they haven't come, then the delivery would be rescheduled.

    Fucking wut.

You're talking about the story dungeon where you get the 2nd Royal Arm for Noct. They're talking about an optional dungeon (Balouve Mines) that's in the South Eastern part of the first area. From the sounds of it you ended up going inside before you got to that part in the story which would explain why you couldn't enter the fancy sealed door.

That's the Keycatrich Trench dungeon; you do that as part of the MSQ at the end of CH2 IIRC. You'll get a key to open the final door by following the story.

I was talking about Balouve Mines which is recommended for 50+ characters. Oddly, the only thing at that level is the boss.

Finished the main story this morning at just under 30 hours, dat ending...

Now to bust out 30+ hours of side content.

    My Thoughts overall:

    Spoiler: show
    Late Game spoilers In here
    Spoiler: show
I honestly really enjoyed the game overall, I had very low expectations going in and was honestly really surprised, biggest gripe for me would have to be the bosses. With the exception of Ravus and maybe Ifrit there weren't any true boss fights, Ardyn as a final boss was good but it was too easy to be considered a true boss fight, there are quite a few extremely difficult Hunts though so i'm hoping those scratch my "Difficult boss fight" itch. Ardyn as a main antagonist was perfect, especially after Chapter 9...like holy shit did he play the deranged villain perfectly. Also the ending had me shedding some man tears...After beating the game the Logo for the game changes a bit and the main menu changes to reflect that.

You seem to be mistaking style for substance. Teleporting all over the place looks cool, but it's mostly performed automatically with no input from the player other then holding down a button. The only real strategy in combat is getting blindsides, otherwise it's exactly like I said previously of literally just holding down a button and hitting square as needed to handle overly telegraphed attacks.

They did a great job with this. How OP the mobs are, the sound and the visuals of how they spawn too, really fun. Makes me constantly avoid doing shit when the sun goes down.

I had my first big "too many mobs, getting my shit wrekt" moment. Went after some Garulas when the empire dropped a bunch of their soldiers right on top of me... and then some Voretooth's joined the fray. It was chaotic, like 20~25 mobs all swinging at each other (not including my party... which had been wiped out). First time I had to spam potions and run away from an encounter. I could get maybe a couple hits in before I got so overwhelmed by things beating down on me that my HP would plummet lol.

Using directional attacks, aerial attacks and team attacks for positioning/iframes isn't basic or shallow at all. Just holding 2 buttons down while you circle around back is valid if you wanna play that way though. Mob weakness, weapon switching, command normals (locked on/off) I dunno what you're talking about.

I guess it's like saying KH is shallow...I mean it can be, but it isn't, just depends on what you put into it.

I'm not certain how that makes it any more shallow than any other game in the series. Also, It's no different than every other video game where you press and hold buttons to do things. Combos are handled via normal movement and attack. Weapon swapping to take advantage of weaknesses. Target warp points to get in and out of battle. Dodge/Parry, counter, team ups. None of these really shout shallow. I'd be curious what games are on the opposite of your spectrum.

Saying this combat is shallow is just lulz.

Theres so much you can do with it.

Speaking of combat, what weapons are people gearing on Noct? I've been doing Sword/Greatsword/Gun or whatever ranged/magic. Like the heavy damage of the GS and the ranged option too. But was thinking of swapping out the sword to try out some knives too to see if the speed is a little faster. Magic is just there for emergencies sake lol. I only really use it if I have no other option.

I wasn't a fan of the polearm. And the Masamune DLC acted like a GS too. So I haven't had a chance to try a proper Katana and I haven't even touched Shields. Haven't come across any shurikens or anything else somewhat "unique" like that either. Albeit, I am still pretty early in the game.

Managed to defeat a hunt 7 levels higher than me - used some attack and hp food, and equipped Noctis with Stopcast, which helped a lot. Overall it took me about 5 minutes to kill it, pretty proud of myself.

Getting more and more used to the battle system with a more consistent finesse A result.

For as easy as the game is any "depth" to the combat is pointless, because it's all meaningless. But w/e, I'll drop the discussion since apparently no one agrees with me. How dare I say something bad about a FF game.

@ Vaspinne, for weapons I use sword (since no one else can use it), GS for raw damage, a Royal Arm as a stat stick, and whatever magic I may have equipped.

Ah, I hadn't considered using a Royal Arm purely for the stat boost. But does it work that way? Does it add to your stats even when you're not currently using it? I was under the impression (for no reason specifically whatsoever, just because I thought it worked this way) that you only get the stats of the weapon you're currently attacking with.

Attack is different for each weapon but hp does stack so if you have multiple weapons equip with +hp you get much more

The raw attack value of the weapon would only apply while it's equipped, but all the actual stats boosts apply character wide. Can't remember which one I have on atm but it has HP+ and a strength boost, which increased attack for all my other gear as well.
