I enjoy the game immensely but if it's the only game you'd buy the PS4 for then it's not worth doing, if there's other games coming out that you'd buy then sure, like Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of us Part 2, etc and you have the spare money then why not?

Last of Us 2 would be p sweet but I really just wanna play FFVII when it comes out. Consoles are kinda lame. I like every I've seen about FFXV but I'll just play it when I eventually buy a PS4 for FFVII. Games aren't going anywhere.

At the end of the day I'm more or less enjoying it, but it's not remotely up to the standards of the series and not worth buying a console for. I could honestly rant for awhile, but I'm gonna just leave it off the forum since I think some people are annoyed by me saying mean things about their precious Final Fantasy.

Also on that last part, just completed chapter 13, and jfc you guys weren't kidding, that shit is AWFUL. Takes away everything enjoyable about the game for 2 hours or so.

Honestly I feel like trying to make an argument about this is gonna end up worse then someone bringing a conservative viewpoint to the politics subforum.

Fwiw, if you had asked me this earlier in the week I would have absolutely said yes, but as the game goes on and the story takes up more and more of the playtime, my view of the game has taken a dramatic downward spiral.

I can't speak to story shit because 30 hrs in I'm still in ch 3. But the amount of fun I've had is already worth it.

How far into the game are Masamune and the Roadtrip weapons relevant? I hadn't used my codes because I thought I was going to resell the game, but now I'm thinking of using them if it isn't too late story-wise. I'm at the end of Chapter 5.

While it is a pretty good game i'd honestly say not to buy a ps4 just for this either, honestly if they put more work into the actual story and less on making the bloody food look realistic i probably would of said otherwise.

Don't have the roadtrip stuff since lolEU but used Masamune for quite a fair while but yeah it was roughly Chp 6/7 i got a better weapon for that slot.

Aside from it being an overwhelming amount of fetch quests, the open world content is generally quite entertaining. But every step further into the story it just gets worse and worse, all while washing away all of the aforementioned open world stuff.

Yes you can return to it, but without getting into spoilers, the nature of you stopping forward story progress to return to open world content is really asinine and honestly quite lame.

@ above, except for the fishing lure most of the preorder is generally just a little above beginner gear, and all clearly outclassed by vendor gear from Lastellum

It's ok, Krandor. I agree. I'm enjoying it, yeah, but it's just kind of whatever. It sucks too, 'cause I was trying to not get hyped about it but the last couple of trailers got me and now I'm left disappointed.

I love Fallout/Elder Scrolls games, but I feel like they tried too hard to copy those games. Even going as far as to match the lame storylines, so what's left is a game that isn't quite FF and not quite ES/Fallout.

Media Player is so great. Just missing a few Key things, To Zanarkand FFX (WTF!?), Twilight Over Thanalan FFXIV (other than Ronfaure I think this would be my most played song), Answers FFXIV, Stand By Me (But I understand why they don't have it)

About 10 hours in and only just now got to the sea. Enjoying running around and dicking around too much.

When doing warp strike cheese I should just switch to strongest type weapon, yeah? And at what level are people taking down iron giants? They're still too dangerous for me but I like trying anyway.

I was able to kill them in the high teens, almost all of their attacks can be dodged or blocked, so as long as you're sharp with those it's not too bad.

I'm 17 and still can't really take them. Maybe if I got one where there was good warp points I could do it but it's gravity draw in shit wrecks me/my allies each time.

Haven't read later chapter spoilers, but I can agree with the sentiment about the story from as early as the opening. Maybe it's nostalgia, but previous FFs all the way back to IV (and maybe earlier?) started with something that felt epic or started the game off right with a strong tone. IV you're slaying mages and stealing a crystal with the epic Red Wings playing in the background. VI you're marching through a snowy field in Magitek armor with pseudo 3D graphics on the SNES. VII you're getting a super zoom treatment of Midgar with many people's first experience with 3D graphics. VIII you've got a pretty sweet sword duel to some strong music. I could keep going, but most prolly get the point.

You get some bland father to son tips then a loading screen followed by pushing your car, which you never saw yourself get in, never saw yourself leave the city, and didn't even get to see break down. It was a disappointment.

I'm only up to chapter 3 and I'm having fun with it, but the story has by far been the weakest aspect.

What you're seeing gets alot worse. The story suffers greatly from what feels like having entire scenes missing. So when some stuff comes in that is supposed to have strong emotional weight, it just feels absolutely pointless because you are given no investment before or after.

Like, where the fuck does Gladiolus go? He just comes back with a bunch of new scars and it's never brought up again. And Prompto's big plot twist? Given one scene then never mentioned or referenced again to the point of "why the fuck did you even include this?"

Aside, this game is gonna be stupidly easy to Platinum. After doing the quick quest they give you got beating the game, the only stuff I have left is one Royal Arm, Adamantoise, and leveling up Fishing/Cooking/Survival. Not sure if I'm actually motivated to finish those since that's all a bit of a grind.
