At this point, I would say no. Changing it to FFXV makes me think it'll have a stand-alone story not at all related to FFXIII save for maybe some mythos or lore involved in the storyline

I don't think there was any implication of anything other than the concepts/verbiage being carried over between titles (l'cie, fal'cie, etc.), which is the same for Type-0. Just imagine the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" family are all completely unrelated other than taking place in the same universe, on entirely different worlds/times/dimensions/regions/etc.; thus, governed by similar theological systems. This is pretty much how "The Ivalice Alliance" works. They all take place in the same setting (planet) and refer to familiar characters/races/gods/locales, but you're not required to have previous knowledge of them to make sense of what's going on.

XIII, Type-0, and XV are unrelated stories. At most, you'll probably get some easter-eggs, references, and/or have a tiny bit more insight on the relationship between normal people and the local superior beings if you've played the previous installations.

They've said the presentation has differed due to the PS4 switch but the story remained intact, so I have a feeling with the recent LR screens of Snow that XV might be in the same world. Whether its 10 years or 10,000 years later I dont know. For all we know the l'Cie became the crystals XV talks about.

They've always said that the games are completely unrelated to each other story-wise, and that they have nothing to do with each other, except for some of the mythology that will be similar. However, that was the case when the game was still called versus, so it's possible they believed in the title well enough to give them more creative freedom and make it a complete stand-alone game with its own mythology. I guess it remains to be seen as we receive more information about it.

That being said; I am excited. I hope he gameplay is similar to that of KH, like it seem to be from the gameplay trailer.
