I didn't really notice an increase in his power when he returned... I'm guessing the DLC is just some standalone fun thing but what they experience won't translate back into the main game? Or are people reloading their main game and seeing Gladio grapple monsters faces off?

At least Prompto's looks like more interesting from a story standpoint.

Highlight for Gladio is clearly the combat though.

Yeah standalone. So you can play it now as you're at the optimal point of experiencing it... find out where he went while you were a 3 man party for a bit.

What are some good ascension skills to unlock? I got the regroup technique and the ap boost from camping and driving already. Should I sell the item drops like claws and bones or keep them?

Finally started playing this. It feels very different from the usual ff titles though.

It's not like there's a limited amount of AP, so just flip through the skills and pick whatever looks cool. A lot of what you'll want to prioritize will depend on how you play. Do you warp strike a lot? You'll want to get those skills that lower the MP cost, increase its damage, and force criticals. Do you use swords/lances and prefer to attack while in midair? You'll want the airdance skills. Do your allies keep dying? You'll want to the stuff in the "Recovery" section that helps them heal themselves. Do you need more HP or attack power? There's stuff to help with that in the "Stats" section. The only one I'll pick out specifically is "Regenerate" in the "Teamwork" group. It's handy to have Ignis pop by to fully heal you rather than bothering with it yourself. Once you get to where you can buy the expensive shit, those skills that force critical hits are really nice.

The item drops like claws and bones are only used in Elemancy to add bonus effects to spells**. I went through the whole game almost never using magic, so you should be fine to sell them if you want to. You might want to hang onto the Rare Coins and Debased Banknotes and junk that crafts into Expericast, but drops from trash monsters are trash. I think I always tried to hang onto 10+ of every item, just in case some quest ever called for it, but I can't remember anyone ever asking for monster parts.

**There are a few items that Cid asks for in order to upgrade weapons, so you should probably make sure you always hang onto 1 of everything (or you could just look up what those items are).

Post Chapter 4, you can double-back for some nice farming spots for AP and gil (it's not as easy as if you were to do it closer to the end). If you want EXP, make the EXP magic and stock as much as possible and stay at the 3X spot. 3.2M is needed for 99, so stocking 1.1M and staying there will 99 you. It gets absurd post 99. It doesn't break the game since the nodes in the ascension grid are 3XLevel or 10XLevel. Personally, I liked getting skills unlocked because you can swap them in battle to adjust to the mob. Staying vague as to not spoil, but know that if you research the above methods, you could read spoilers.

• New “Stable Mode” added to the PlayStation 4 Pro resolution options. With this mode, you can comfortably enjoy playing the game with a stable frame rate.
• Subtitles, as well as some menu screen text sizes have been enlarged.
• Timed Quests will start up again, and a new ranking feature has been added. You can get a wonderful weapon as an initial reward.
• New car stickers added for Regalia customization.
• New songs added to the music player.

New perma-Armiger glitch since 1.09.

Really easy to do, takes about 10 min to get the pathing right.

People are baulking at the use of it for the timed quests though since it makes the circuit a joke. Expect a patch soon.

Fun to dick around for a while exploring some of the out of bound areas. Apparently it even continues onto new game plus.

(skip to 03:00 to see what you have to do; basically they allowed Aryden to follow you if you leave the battlefield. When you rest at the bed
as the 50% cutscene happens it quicksaves the Armiger state onto the file. Load up that file and you're good to go. To access the menu you gotta use the Regalia) Make sure to make a few duplicate saves, as there doesn't seem to be a way to revert back from the Armiger mode, and it gets fairly boring fairly quickly.

Just started playing. Like it a lot so far, the boy band dynamic is hilarious and the story hasn't quite jumped the shark yet, at least not in the first couple chapters lol.
When do you get the portable radio? When do I get a fishing line strong enough to pull in the whopper fish at the little resort? (I've broken 2 full baleen lines on it). Are there certain rewards I should bother getting from the insanely grindy pinball game? (I got to 67 chests before I realized it never fucking ends and there's probably no point unless achievements or exclusive useful items). Anything else I should try not to miss that's very missable and would make my life infinitely easier? Thanks!
