when i think of a modern (7 onwards) FF i think of memorable characters, a cohesive story and also awe-inspiring places/architecture. When they come together, it gives me that sense of "this is fantasy, but this could be real".. which to me is what makes a true FF game.

granted, the problem i see with this is that as i get older, its harder for me to get suspension of disbelief and to just accept what the story throws at me. And the problem with HD is also that it leaves less to the imagination.. older FFs appear more memorable because your imagination had to fill in the gaps and create the visuals for yourself where the technology of the time could not.. and what you create in your mind is just a lot more powerful than what you sense with your eyes and ears.

so far i really like XVs feel tho.. the whole venetian feel of Accordo contrasting with Lucis's metro japan look.. i like the juztaposition and cant wait to explore it.

How much imagination did you really have to use from FF7 onwards? For 6 and before it's an actual thing but it's not like SE has ever skimped on graphics or making things look realistic (for the time/tech and their capabilities).

Hell, looking at FFVIII you need 0 imagination to understand what's going on, at least in 7 you kinda had to use your imagination when characters were on the field and doing shit. But I never had that problem after 7.

Was just reading an article on why a Final Fantasy 7 remake is not needed. After reading your post, I realized there really would be some things an HD remake of an old game just wouldn't feel right in a remake. For instance the Dolphin Scene in Juno, it would look so damn weird to watch this scene play out in an HD remake. So much I think they should redo entire scenes to accommodate more "believable" instances.

I don't think FF8 would have a hard time with an HD port, it was already trying to be ultra realistic. They kind of went back on that in 9, which by many was a welcome move.

Growing older with the franchise also has its drawbacks. We'd like to see darker themes being presented in these games. Something more Adult/mature, but I don't think its something they can really cater to without pushing aside a whole brand new wave of young players picking up a Final Fantasy for the first time.

I'm a little excited for FFXV to be a little more than the recent iterations.

Edit: Saddens me the last time we had an Open World Map was FF9, before HD happened. Hopefully FFXV can deliver on this! That'd be so goddamn awesome and so worth the wait.

I know dem feels. I'll swap it out with an HD version if I can find one. I've been on neogaf a lot lately since they seem more up to date on gaming shit than reddit.

"outgrowing" the game franchise might be a reason, but if the franchise is barely resembling anythign from the past games, then thats not the sole reason. FFXIV for example has high tech too, but it feels like a Final Fantasy, the setting, the world, the characters, the character you create yourself.

I just cant grasp FFXV, it looks beautifull, but I cant grasp it, i dont like the setting/world/character design. It looks to me more like Assasines creed mixed with GTA spiced up with an overdoze of JPop/J-Punk stuff. I am not a fan of this JPop/J-Punk design stuff on characters.

You've repeated your opinion a few times already, which is a completely okay opinion to have. I don't mean to come off as an ass, but it just seems like you're beating a dead horse at this point. To be honest, if you don't think you'll enjoy the game, then who cares what anyone else thinks? You're free to think what you want and you don't really need to keep trying to justify it to a bunch of people online.

Damn yo...3-4 hr demo. Too bad it doesn't say when the demo will be released.

Why are they concerned about easy to pull off combos and stuff though. Auto drive, auto dodge, auto attack. Can my ps4 play the game for me? I'm worried that the combat will get too simplified. If you're gonna go the action route you need to dive in, no need to simplify it for the non action people.

Apparently, Type-0 will just give you a code to download the demo for when it comes out.

Tabata said they're trying to finish the demo and release it in March. They haven't confirmed that it'll be ready and out by then but he seems pretty confident.
