This makes it feel like the success of Yoshi P's openness with FFXIV is making SE be more open with its other games

Yeah this new SE is awesome, most of my issues/feedback made the list for adjustment. Only thing missing is Attack mapped to R2/remappable controls, and playable party members though the latter will probably never happen for XV :/.

I'm shocked they are even going to update the current demo.

They've already made it pretty clear that playable party members are out. Sucks, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for it.

I'm glad they're looking into making controller mapping a thing. That's a feature that I feel is 100% required in every game. If they don't get to it, though, the PS4 now has that feature to change the button mappings in the system options. Not as good as an in depth in game option, but it might work.

They said they might let you remap your controls.

Wow all that shit is great. I've been hoping that since XIV SE would start to listen more (since what is the point of a demo and feedback if you don't try to change shit). Looking forward to this a lot more and I'm super glad they're actually focusing on game play and not stupid story/voice shit.

    1) Lock on is bad. Mobs go off screen
    A) They noticed this also and will be working to make the lock on better.

    2) Camera too close
    A) Might have multiple camera settings but they will have to see what would need to be sacrificed in order to have the time to tune that before they make a decision.

    3) Camera too sluggish
    A) Will be made smoother. Period.

    4) Dumb ally AI. Don't act as wanted and also they get in Noct's way.
    A) Will program to keep from getting in each others way. Trying to create a sense of camaraderie with the AI, not quite there yet. Some of it is in the demo, more to come.

    5) Jaggies and Frame rate drops.
    A) Anti-aliasing wasn't in the demo but will be in the full game so jaggies will be reduced.
They don't want to lower the quality of the objects or the numbers so they are working on optimizing the framerate. Currently bottleneck during battle is VFX and UI. From the feedback they understand that framerate seems more important to players than full HD resolution so they won't sacrifice framerate. Still aiming for full HD.

    6) Motion is realistic, but feels slow because of that.
    A) A lot of this has to do with the weight of the weapon being used. They are trying to increase the range.
They are working on feeling connected to the ground and make the player feel like they are part of the world. Doing trial and error to get the right balance of realism but also speed. Armiger is there to speed up the gameplay during moments of need but they also want to design around joint attacks during normal times so they want to balance between the 2 styles. As with everything else, this will be optimized as well.

    7) Minimap or compass please? Possibly something to give a better sense of where you are in relation to allies?
    A) They will add minimap. Will look into if they can implement something to give players better sense of their surroundings. This ties back into the camera so once they polish that up they will reassess the need for something like a radar.

    8) Want dodge that isnt tied to MP.
    A) There is a dodge roll in the game. Only the warp dodge made it to the demo.

    9) Too much reliance on MP. Hiding to recover MP isn't fun.
    A) MP recovery was balanced for the demo. Many other battle features will be in the main game that will make each fight shorter and use less MP. Time spent recovering MP will go down a lot. HT thinks hiding or warping to a high spot to recover MP and then jumping back into the fray is a fun tactic and he doesn't want to completely lose it. Just needs to balance the amount.

    10) JP players said game was too hard. Western said it was too easy.
    A) Best option for this is to include difficulty options. No multiple difficulties atm but they are Working towards simultaneous worldwide release!!!! so they feel the need to incorporate that. "I think we will include it. We will."

I'm sleepy so you guys are on your own for the last 5. Hype about worldwide release though.

That #10 makes me angry to no end. It's not the first game, that they made 'easier' for NA compared to JP I know it's a mobile game but FFRK got a massive nerf on the older dungeons that JP never got, I don't understand why they usually make a game easier in NA then in JP

(Not saying that they made a special demo for NA easier) but still

Why does 10 make you angry? I don't get it they haven't even said anything about making the game harder or easier for any region, just that they're going to add difficulty modes.

This seems like 90% of the games that are out there, what are you freaking out about? Also for aside from a couple of examples usually the harder version of all games comes out in the west.

    NES :

Super Mario Bros. 3 - The western version had some subtle changes in its difficulty. In the Japanese version, if you were Fire or Raccoon Mario and you were hit, you'd revert to Small Mario (same as the original Super Mario Bros.). This was changed in the American version where being hit while having fire or raccoon powers would revert you back to Super Mario.

    SNES

Final Fantasy IV - The American version (titled Final Fantasy II since it was the second game in the series released overseas) was significantly easier than the Japanese version. It eliminated a number of character abilities and items, simplified the removal of Standard Status Effects, and made most of the bosses easier.

Crash Bandicoot (1996) - The Japanese version made the first boss harder (five hit points instead of three and he attacks faster as he takes damage)

Final Fantasy VIII - Guardian Forces are drawable in every boss encounter in the final level in case you missed any the first time around, but missing these the second time around makes them Lost Forever. The Japanese version did not give players a second chance in drawing a Guardian Force in the final level.

    N64

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - The Owl Statues you find in the game serve as warp points and quicksave points in the international releases of the game. In the Japanese version, the only way to save was to play the Song of Time and return to the Dawn of the First Day.

Crisis Core - In the Japanese version, if Zack is KO'd during a side mission, it is a Game Over. In the US version, the game treats you as if you abandoned the mission and return you to the save point. You can use this to your advantage to steal an infinite amount of otherwise rare Phoenix Downs from the Bonus Boss and use them to max out your cash and all your materia.

    Exemple of NA beeing harder

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - In the Japanese version, Heart Blocks were in some certain places where you could get a free heal. The North American release, which was released earlier, did not have this feature
Castlevania: Bloodlines - The US version was made harder.

Tomb Raider 2 - The Japanese version features much weaker enemies and has certain traps removed.

Those are only some exemples that I searched on purpose but I always have this feeling that more NA games have been gimped compared to the same JP games, because JP developpers seems to consider NA gamers 'weaker' then JP

You do realise the difference between making a game intentionally easier and fixing them/getting QoL between releases right? The amount of games that have been toned done for western release is tiny and for the most part good because the things that made them harder in JP were just bad decisions, bugs or unintended results.

So it still seems like you're freaking out for no reason.

Japan has long thought "Western audiences" are blithering idiots. Why would you ever expect change from the most unchanging major power in the world, Ratman?

lock on was my biggest complaint so if that's fixed I'm golden. and JP probably complaining its too hard because of night time combat, but that is meant to be hard to encourage camping so I don't see a problem w/ that at all

Don't worry i'm not expecting a change, all i'm saying is that it's sad that we are usually stuck getting a gimper version of a game

But thats not even whats happening here lol. They are going to add different difficulties and release the game worldwide at once, so that this is all a non issue.

Most of those changes are for the better yet you think we're getting the worse version? We usually get the better product in the end and that rarely has an actual effect on difficulty. And if you think this is even remotely the case for XV (or hell, recently) then you're hugely mistaken.

Can they update the $60 product the demo was attached to that had a more atrocious camera first?

I mean it's nice, but their priorities are fucked.

Considering they couldn't be bothered to update the camera for the HD version, I don't expect them to be putting any work into it.
